Move the Airport Mister President!

Let me confirm… Islamabad IS the capital of Pakistan right? It is the place to be for all the international hype and all the ambassadors, embassies, diplamatic enclaves, seminars, conventions and what not isn’t it? Then how come we still get to have one of the most dysfunctional airports in the country?

For any one who is a frequent flyer to Lahore and Karachi like me, the difference speaks for itself. I agree that we don’t have Nandos and McDonalds but is that too big a crime to deny us a decent airport that we so deserve? It’s heard (read: rumored) that the government has had the land reserved for the new airport for seven odd years but as to why they have not even laid a brick out there is an unraveled mystery. Equipped with one little departure lounge and a single gate, you feel as if Islamabad just won the competition for the best airport with Skardu or Gilgit!

*sigh* must I go on?

Come on Uncle Mushi (no sarcasm intended), this is our capital we are talking about! Not every one gets to fly through the Rawal Lounge (VIP enclave) all the time you know.
