Me & My city – ISLAMABAD!

Assalam-o-alaykum w.w.!

If I look back into (almost not completely ^_^) 22 years of my life … and if I think about Islamabad’s role in these years, I can rank it as one of the beloved possession of my life. Well, that I’m saying truly, in case you’ll start thinking otherwise.

Though, there were days when I used to go to Lahore and it used to fascinate me a lot. But then as I grew, my love for the serenity of the city, the beauty of Islamabad’s autumns and springs, the shivering days and nights of December and January, the humid and hot June and July … grew and then there was no stopping for this ever-increasing love.

There were times in few years back, when my family wanted to shift to Lahore and I was the biggest NO vote

Hey Isloooo is toooooo small. The Areas of Clifton , North nazimabad , Defence e.t.c. in Karachi r as the size of Islamabad. Than whats so exciting abt it. All the major cities of world like London , New York , Tokyo , Jeddah , e.t.c. r huge in size & population & so is Karachi. I dont know how u ppl can live a dull & monotonous life in a city where u can see both ends in half an hour. In Karachi , it takes at least 2 hrs to get from one side to other. Karachi is the business , industrial , financial , economic ,& social capital of Pakistan. Where does ISB stand now? All the mess that has polluted KHI is all brought by ppl from other parts of the country , otherwise KHI is a city of international standards. The tallest buildings in PK r here .If u ever come to KHI u can hang out even at night around 2 or 3 o clock. Karachi is also a city of gardens , hills & mountains , & the most important of all is the lovely sea! . The picnic places around the coast of KHI , Hawks Bay , Sand spit , turtle beach , Cape mount , Kemari , clifton beach ,& the most important r Seaview & Creek city. Sea view is the place where u can go any time in 24 hrs !!!!.
Still I can end by saying that Islamabad is also beautiful & I love it too. Many of my relatives & frndz reside here.

I agree with my friend from Karachi. I lived more than eight years of life in Islamabad. It is one of the most beautiful cities in today’s modern world. However, one cannot compare Islamabad or Lahore to Karachi. Latter may be polluted, over populated, and most volatile but what Karachi has to offer, no other city in Pakistan does. It is a city that never sleeps. Karachi offers best food choices at any given time. Karachi is and interesting combination of modern and old. Karachi has more punjabis than Lahore and more pathans than Peshawar.

i worked for Pharmaceutical company and because of my proffesion i have seen half of pakistan by road..i have seen all the provinces all the major cities like Karachi..Lahore..faisalabad..islamabad and rawalpindi..peshawar..quetta plus many other cities and villages…and my conclusion is that Karachi is full of life doubt abt this tht islamabad is very beautiful city…but one need more than beautiful city otherwise Paris would then be most talk about city..instead of New york or london…and abt the dirty ness of Karachi it is due to over population which is due to the ppl from differnt cities ..just think of it if karachi Halat is not right there is a security problem then y its popultaion is increasing like ne thing..Karachi Drives pakistan..according to Sheikh Rasheed…Karachi is 10yrs ahead of pakistan ….wht happen after earth quake..every city participated but Karachi….it has far exceeds every one…even BBC reports tht…and this is true..karachi has more pathan then peshawar and punjabis then Lahore…by the way everycity has its positives and negative and Islambad positive is it beautiful and calm city..we love u islamabad

Well divesity is the essense of life. I feel Islamabad and Karachi are different kind of cities. It is unfair to compare these two cities. In fact if one wants to compare Karachi to some other city, it should be compared with Bangkok, Bombay, Manila or Jakarta. Cities are not all about population. There are many things which are essential in making the city a better place to live. In fact the quality of life is judged by considering many factors e.g public transportation, basic health facitlities, open spaces or parks, education, crime rate, pollution, walkable and other basic infrastructure.

I was born and brought up in Karachi and spent most of my adulthood in Karachi. I was employed with an international oil company which provided me an opportunity to spend 2-3 years in Lahore and Islamabad during early 80’s. I must say I am very passionate about Islamabad since my first true ‘love’ is from Islamabad. Someone mentioned earlier “Islamabad is a feeling
