The residents of French Colony staged a protest demonstration here Friday against the development of a mini-golf club at the site of a public park in Sector F-7.

The protesters urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to cancel the lease agreement with the developer of the mini-golf club and declare it illegal.

The CDA has leased out five acres of land of Jubilee Park to Shah Sharabeel of the Al Warid MiniGolf Valey at Markaz F-7 for an initial period of one year against the annual rent of Rs2.5 million.

Some protesters entered the premises of the under-construction golf club where development work was under way in full swing.

Later, freelance journalist and director-general of the Institute of Strategic Studies Shireen Mazari and leading educationist Dr. Dushka Sayid also joined the demonstrators.
