CDA allots 1,200 plots to Katchi Abadi dwellers

The Capital Development Authority has allotted 1,200 plots in Islamabad’s rural area of Ali Pur Farash to people living in four Katchi Abadis or informal settlements known as Muslim Colony, Haq Bahu, Dhoke Najju and Essa Nagri, a CDA official said Tuesday.

The official said under the “Model Urban Shelter Project” 3-marla plots have been allotted to eligible inmates with the condition they would not sell the property to any other person.

Each allottee has made down payment of Rs. 4,000 and will pay the remaining amount in instalments. The residents have been allowed to start construction work, the official said.

A total of 1,600 plots would be allotted under the scheme to inmates of these Katchi Abadis and the process would be completed soon.

The official said the CDA is rapidly developing physical infrastructure at the site.

An estimated 50 to 70 thousand people are living in 16 different Katchi Abadis out of which 10 have been designated by CDA as eligible for grant of facilities.
