IIUI to establish CORDAPS

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) will establish center of Research for Development and Policy Studies (CORDAPS) to improve public and private sectors’ response to challenges like poverty, urban decline and regional and global integration.

The center will be formally inaugurated by Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Ghazi, President IIUI and the centre is headed by Dr. Pervez Zamurrad Janjua, Foreign professor and HEC’s approved PhD supervisor at the International Institute of Islamic Economic (IIIE) of IIUI.

CORDAPS will practically be engaged in an active program of development and policy research, dissemination of information, technical assistance and graduate education community outreach in the form of seminars, internships and volunteers service will also pay a vital role at CORDAPS to give a practical grounding to its research activity.

The higher education commission of Pakistan has provided seed money for the establishment of CORDAPS while the IIIE is providing local inputs. Additional funds will be secured from different means for its development.

CORDAPS is designing a graduate program in Development and Policy Studies (DPS) in order to address social challenges.

Courses of M.Sc economic with a major in DPS are designed at the centre. This programme will enable students to get dual advantage of getting a master degree in economics and achieving the qualification of a major in DPS.

CORDAPS is also designing master degree programmes in DPS with mandatory thesis. The students will be assigned topics according to the leading issues of Pakistan economy. This will be helpful in designing and improving public policies.

A blue print will be prepared to upgrade CORDAPS to the level of a School of Development and Policy Studies (SODPS). The centre will actively be involved in developing international cooperation.

Work has been started to develop cooperation with European universities and US. It will help students to start joint study programmes in Pakistan and abroad.

Facilities presently provided at the centre include provision of the HEC approved supervisor, two qualified research assistant to assist in teaching and research activities.

Internet facility to the students for research activities, subscription of the international economics, Journals free access to printer, photocopier, Fax machine and multimedia, library providing development and policy related books and research materials.

    I knw its irrelevant…but any idea frm where in Pindi/Isb I can buy cow boy hats & boots?….any shop,mall,plaza etc etc
