Study tours for children of overseas Pakistanis

Overseas Pakistan Foundation (OPF) has planned to arrange study tours for children of overseas Pakistanis to their homeland.

Federal Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Ghulam Sarwar Khan said talking to journalists here on Wednesday.

He said the decision of arranging study tours of children who are living abroad for long time was taken on the demand of overseas Pakistanis. He added the Pakistani expatriates desired to have strong interaction of their children with their homeland Pakistan and its culture.

Ghulam Sarwar said that during the tour the participants would gain knowledge of varied aspects of life in Pakistan.

He said the purpose of tour is to educate the young generation about socio-economic development in Pakistan and to create awareness among them about cultural heritage.

He said during his recent visit to Scandinavian countries, the overseas Pakistanis who are living there for the last three to four decades have stressed the need of their frequent visit to Pakistan particularly alongwith their families so that their children could get acquaintance of their homeland.

Ghulam Sarwar said in order to establish constant interaction with second and third Pakistani generation in abroad there is need to inform them of the history and culture heritage of Pakistan.

He said a study tours for these children has been planned, and in this connection letters to the embassies in Europe, North America and Scandinavian countries have been dispatched.

He said the participants would visit places of cultural, social and religious significance and also meet with well known personalities of the country.

He said through these tours they would later be able to contribute their knowledge, experiences and expertise in the development of Pakistan. He said that during his visit to the Scandinavian countries, most of the Pakistanis demanded PIA for having special tourism, family and student packages.—APP

    Student packages sound nice…there are many students of foreign background studying in Pakistan…mainly in the Engineering, Medical and Islamic colleges.

    A student package would be very good….
