Celebrate Life!

I forgot to post about the wonderful festival that was arranged for the Kashmiri children affected by the 8th october quake on Kashmir’s solidarity day. Children who are now living in Islamabad’s relief camps, in Lok Virsa. So, let’s have a read on the events of the day…!

To mark Kashmir Solidarity Day Sunday, Lok Virsa organised a multihued fair and festival depicting the colours of Kashmir. The day long event attracted a large number of people visiting the venue took keen interest in the display of Kahmiri art and crafts, Kashmiri cuisine, and Kashmiri artisans at work.

The main features of the festival included special tableau and dramatic presentations by school children of the twin cities, Congregation of Kashmiri residents, exhibition of documents on Kashmir, poster exhibition by children on earthquake, and puppet show. Children from Kashmiri Refugee camps of the earthquake-affected areas also participated in the festival as special guests. The refugee children were presented special gifts on the occasion.

The show was jointly organised by Lok Virsa and Cosmos Productions to express solidarity with the quake-affected Kashmiri children, currently residing in special camps set up for the quake affectees in Islamabad.

Aposter exhibition entitled “Celebrate Life” depicting both miseries and ray of hope experienced by the quake-affected students was also organized for the day.

The posters and paintings put on display were made by quake affected students as well as students of FG College for Women, FG Margalla College for Women and Islamabad Model College for Girls.
