Rawalpindi-Lahore non stop train to run slow

Pakistan Railways has decided to reduce the speed limits of the non-stop train plying between Rawalpindi and Lahore.

The stop has been taken following recent derailment of the train. All the drivers of Pakistan Railways, particularly the drivers of non-stop trains were directed that they must remain within the speed limits of 70 km per hour from Rawalpindi to Lalamusa and 90 km per hour from Lalamusa to Lahore, sources in Pakistan Railways Rawalpindi Division said. They said that the previous speed allowed for the train was 105 km per hour and it covered the distance in three and a half hours but now it would take four hours to reach the destination.

The timing of the non-stop train from Rawalpindi to Lahore and Lahore to Rawalpindi has been changed without giving any reason.

Sources said that the PR authorities have so far failed to rehabilitate the railway track at Domaili near Jhelum and directed the railway drivers to remain careful.
