TMA Rawal Town has once again speeded up the campaign against encroachments and started grand operation in the city.
On the instructions of Town Nazim Shiekh Rashid Shafiq the enforcement staff of TMA on Saturday started operation against encroachment in Raja Bazaar, Bara Market, Talwaran Bazaar, Dalgaran Bazaar ,Mochi Bazaar, Gunjmandi and Cotton Market.
The TMA staff confiscated two full truckloads of goods, which were displayed outside the shops by traders. They also removed kiosks, carts and street vendors from the roads.
On the occasion dozens of traders were also fined for spreading their stalls beyond the limits of their shops. Several shopkeepers were warned to avoid doing business on the footpaths.
The source in TMA told Pakistan Observer that the drive would be continued till complete eradication of encroachments in the city.
He told that some twenty gardeners from Horticulture Division were posted to Enforcement Section of TMA by Town Nazim to control the menace of encroachment from Rawalpindi.
The source on the condition of anonymity also told that there is acute shortage of staff in Horticulture Division too, as almost half of the staff was already transferred to Potohar Town. “And with the arrival of spring season TMA is in need of more gardeners”, he added.
