here’s my 2 cents worth on the issue…….for those of us who’ve been to lahore as the golden arches slowly but steadily made their presence felt there over the past few years can vouch for the active participation of tht food chain in beautifying its suroundings……..the mcd in defense with a whole park developd by the franchise is a good example……honestly folks it’ll bring more attention 2 the park and perhaps b a catalyst 2 a stronger local economy for the twin cities!

i’m so glad that for the first time i have seen such enthusiastic and caring poeple of islamabad.
yes its true that the Mcdonald in jinnah park rawalpindi has created a mess all over.people who buy cold drings and french fries from there throw the waste in and around the park.which made it a hideous place. i think we all should protest against it and present our request to CDA.may be this time they think of the beauty of the city instead of money.
p:s do inform the readers about the progress in this matter and if there is some rally going on i would definitely love to join it.

i am not in favour of stopping McDonalds from having a outlet in the park, if :
    (i) Its in one corner.
(ii) They place green dustbins all over the park.
(iii) Hire staff to keep park clean.

three cheers 4 the last comment! we hav to break past then ‘capitalist versus the socialist’ mindset and think on a broader level of how our economy will be impacted! think of the hundreds of jobs it will create. lets not shy away from a prospect just because we fear our own kind won’t know how to handle it……lets put our blue uniformed city brigade to use and charge a fine for littering and hold MCD responsible for cleanliness……I’m sure they will gladly comply…..

Thanks for detailed discussion on MCdonald’s here …

I personally think we are the ones who make things worst for ourselves … but if promoting an international chain is the thing we are protesting I endorse it … Islamabad is proud to be quite self-sufficient with self-food chains … and if not chains restaurants … so that should be promoted!!
