First Burj ul Arab was named as 7 Star hotel now Centaurus by the same constructiors … but who does hotel rankings … an intersting comment I got on Centaurus image at my flickr … let’s share it here …
Zohare.haider says:
incidentally, burj ul arab’s engineering/architecture firm is being sued by Michelin guide for claiming 7 stars. no such rating exists and if it did, it would have been awarded by michelin post construction. Ratings cannot be determined prior to construction or completion for that matter. Just an fyi for all you people. In other news…the building does look pretty snazzy.
An interesting read I found here too 7 Star Hotels? What’s Up with the Hotel Rating System?
Last three days left for the book fair at Oxford Book Shop in Blue Area,
Be there! :)
If anything bad that can happen to the relatively clean air of Islamabad, it is the dust and smog created but the numerious construction sites that have spawned up in the city.

Speedsters Beware!
A few months into the implementaion of the model Traffic Police System in Islamabad and you will note people hitting brakes to slow down to the required speed limit at the sight of a lone ranger parked with a trusty camera at the road side with a police car standing ready. And then hitting the accelerator to zoom away leavin them behind in the dust. Or waiting for the sun to go down before entering ‘Speed City’ gunning engines and stereos blazing in the rush!
Those days will now be a thing of the past thanks to the advent of ‘night vision’ speed cams. I was witness to the number of cars being pulled to a dutiful side by men in uniform on the main road between F-8 and F-10 at past 9. I’m assuming that these cameras use infra-red to flash those who are hooked on speed.
So people watch yourselves and observe the trafiic limits. On a personal note, my objective tonight will be to try and get a picture of the police car with the shiny blue lights standing alongside one of those cameras!
Drive Safe Everyone!

First of all I would like to thank the lovely people at Islamabad Metroblogs who are educating the world at how lovely our city is. Secondly, I would thank another bunch of lovely Islamabadi Bloggers here who shown me the way to Metroblogs and encouraged me time and time again to write for this page.
