Islamabad Eids

There is nothing more soothing for a true Islamabad-ite than the quiet that descends on the city on the advent of Eid or any occasion where we may end up with a couple of holidays in a row. During the day, Islamabad does resemble a ghost town, with little traffic and relatively uncrowded markets as well. Nonetheless, every one who’s here knows the simplistic joy of going around the city on chand raat if just to look at who the brave souls are that stayed behind. It is the simple pleasures that keep us loyal to our city. Watching some of the last minute commotion for shoes, or a set of bangles that is just right or simply a chance to eat dahi bhallas or a drink sitting outside Munchies or the ‘gola’ in Jinnah Super. The last Iftar is a chance to make plans for a dinner at one of the eateries in the city, and a chance to raid the freezers around town for a frozen speciality for the next day or stand in a bakery lusting after the creamy confection displayed to perfection.

Quiet it may be, but Eid has it’s own character in Islamabad and wishing all of you, visitors and homies a fabulous Eid! May the Almighty bless your days with happiness and contentment always!

Eid Mubarak All!
