Gun Smoke, A Takery?

Why, O Why would you simply ruin the very essence of Gun Smoke service by making it a mere ‘Takery’?
If you have been to the Gun Smoke joint in Lahore or Karachi, you would know exactly what I am talking about. The place is known for its ‘seemingly rude’ and ‘raw’ service and that is what adds flavor to the whole Gun Smoke experience. When I first heard that they are opening in Islamabad, the news was as good as strawberries with cream! But a takery? What are they gonna do? Dress up people as cowboys and make them take your order… and then throw the bill at you through the small window (they literally crumple up the bill and throw it on your table back in Lahore/Karachi). If you had to open a branch in Islamabad (it’s still the Capital isn’t it?), why would you need to be such a miser at that? Spend some money, rent a bigger space and make a proper night out of it! Trust me, it would be appreciated more than leaning against a railing in the Islamabad winters, awaiting your order to be delivered through the small window.

I’d rather go to Lahore to fully enjoy the Gun Smoke experience than stand in a line with my order receipt awaiting for a cowboy to ‘yee-haw’ my name and throw a bag of food at me!

Bon Appetite People!

Yah GunSmoke rox … but takeaway doesn’t go with the theme …. it’s original idea would be a good addition to Isloo’s dine-out scene … rather thrash-out scene :)

@ Talha: Yes, I agree that their food is not the ‘top of the line’ stuff. In fact, for the gastronomical public such as that of Lahore, the Gun Smoke quality is average. However, like I mentioned, it’s the complete package that is missing. People look fwd to their distinctive service rather than the food itself. The way they slam the drinks and your food platers on your table, how people are munching on peanuts and throwing the shells on the ground and around as a norm, the seemingly rude attitude, and so much more!

@ Iqbal, It’s right across the road from the 1P2P take-away… next to Maria B outlet and right behind the 7th Avenue shopping complex!

I just posted about this after going there today. Loved the food.

I didn’t know they were in Lahore and Karachi as well. Will visit the next time I’m in town.
