G-9 Markaz- Shopper’s paradise

G-9%20Markaz%201.JPGIslamabad was planned with each sector having a center point or “markaz” that would be an area geographically in the center of a sector. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, a “Markaz” is the nucleus of a sector that has markets, shops and apartments. G-9 markaz is considered one of the older markaz of Islamabad.

G-9%20Markaz%202.JPGEstablished in the early 80’s this markaz can be considered a shopping paradise for the frugal Isoolite. You can find an assortment of household stuff ranging from crockery, sanitary items, clothes, cosmetics, you name it. The most important aspect is the price range of all items which accounts for much of the sure buy for the thrifty house wives of Islamabad. Moreover you can also find a wide variety of items to choose from.

The markaz also houses one of the focal bus terminals of Islamabad. Islooites from all sectors gather here to catch buses departing to all parts of Pakistan. The area is named Karachi Company, after a company that heavily worked in the construction business during eighties.

The third important offering of this sector is the nearby “Sunday Bazar” which is a shopper’s paradise. No matter what you are looking for, it’s a sure bet you would find it here at a price much lower than then that prevailing in the market. The bazar is packed during the afternoons and you can see large number of local and foreign shoppers busy bargaining with the shopkeepers.
