Lifestyle Ends with a Style — Rainy Style ;-)

As, Talha yesterday reminded us of the All about lifestyles expo 2007 … Dawn group’s All About Lifestyles Expo is becoming a trend amongst the people of Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. Today the two day expo ended with a rainy style in Islamabad’s Convention center. [[pictures are haphazardly placed so dont look for captions around :-p]]

I planned to visit the expo this year since for last two years something would come up at the eleventh hour and my plan would remain a plan untouched … so I went a it late … at around 6 to the expo but I guess 30-40 minutes were enough to have a good round up of all the things. They had planned Hot Air Ballooning event today too … but the heavy downpour in the late morning must have extinguished all hopes of ballooning … poor they …!

This expo is basically a shopping cum entertainment extravaganza celebrated for two days in major cities of Pakistan … this year it kicked off from Islamabad … it basically showcased projects of technological and cultural development as well as manufactured products and a food court too …!

The parking courts were fully packed with people despite the chilliness in the air and muddiness in the feet … but still the environment was charged … everyone was out to enjoy rare moments of happenings for public in Islamabad … and when we get these moments seldom do we miss them ;-)

Inner stalls mainly were showcasing brand names as Interwood, Berloni, Gown House, Comsats, Gunj Glass, Siemens, Canon, Scotch Brite … Special play areas for children and Young World with interesting quizzes and fun programs too …!

While stalls in open (well under canopies) were having stalls of Nikon, K & N Chicken, Bake Parlor, Nurpur, Dalda and other such brands … offering different packages to the people on discounted rates …. Though even in this discount there was a bit of hanky panky … like the package sizes were small … but anyways on grounds the carpets were there luckily on layers of mud :-D it was funny walking on them … and yah I saw some girls wearing heels and I was like shooot … people are crazy … khair lag patta gaya hogaa :-)

The food court was hue too and looked pleasing … it again had stalls from names as Dainty’s and mama’s Ice ream … some delicacies included Makhan achar, saag and makayi ki roti, Chicken Tikkas and yeah interestingly Chirray and batairs too :-) though I didn’t tried them ….!

Overall the expo was good enough … providing you something to do in the evening … a nice lurk out for an hour or so … it was good enough for children and yeah for people who were up to building their homes or renovating since lots of such stuff was there …. !

I’ll give an overall OK to the event … The weather was lovely today BTW ; – )

and yeah sorry for blurred images … well at two points people around really laughed when I took pics so I took them hurriedly rest of them were taken in bit hurry as rain started … and yah the evnt ended with constant announcements that We are sorry due to weather we’ll have to end the expo earlier than scheduled time :)

People laughed when you took pictures?!?…Well you should have laughed back at their sorry state of mind, or should have ignored. Public “stares” and “laughs” are the hallmark of desi culture so one shouldn’t really be concerned about it.

By and Large a great cover of the event, and an excellent round up A for Apple. Three cheers

Not all people stare n laugh only the losers who dont have any meaning in life. Also “we” have to change the culture. No culture ever stays the same. Its called evolution.

Well Talha, Asma really has come up with a good cover up of the event. But lets see may be if I can just add something.
I must say that the display of in-house stalls was far more catchy and flamboyant as compared to the outside display in canopies. Plus they were having the edge since it was raining out so most of the families preferred to see in-house displays. However all of the stalls were very well presented be it the Candy land chilli Millis or the Centaurus .Besides the reps of each stall were having detailed info about the product. But what I felt was a weak thing was poor lighting on some stalls which remained in dark and could not capture much attention.
What i like most was the GUNJ stall. They are the manufacturers of Glass and Glass products and their products are available in Blue Area as well as in Rawalpindi near Faizabad..Like the beautiful pure glass center tables with different shapes were on the display, (one u can see in the pic posted by Asma above) ,The price for a set of each center table was Rs. 8500 to Rs. 12500. and a single table was available at Rs.3000-4000 averagely.
LG Flat Screens, LCDs. Ranging from Rs55000 to Rs.300, 000. One of them was with a feature of Pause and Rewind the Live Programs.LG mobiles were also in display with a price range of Rs.3000 to R. 16500.
The second best display that i liked was of comfortable colorful couches, Floor cushions. Specially for kids, there were stuffed with polyester and beads ,like dice shaped ,smiley, Mickey mouse stuffed chair with beads stuffed in it’s ears and lot of adults were even buying bigger comfy colorful seats for themelves. The prices for small cushion like couches was Rs. 450 -650 while bigger stuffed seats for adults were ranged from Rs. 1200 to Rs.1400 . I bought one small Mickey Mouse chair as a gift for my niece. They are also available on DISNEY outlet in Rawalpindi Near 6th Road. On the exhibition there were discounted prices being offered by each exhibitor. Few Discounts were really good that they induced us to buy from them.
Laptops by Dell and hp were on display. I don’t know why there was a big difference in the prices of both but the prices of hp were higher than the Dell. I didn’t go into detail of the add ons that they were offering but generally the prices were from 45000 to Rs. 98000 without tax were being offered.
Generally it was a nice evening although quite chilling but even then it didn’t stop people from joining in late in the evening. Some people were enjoying more I guess by observing others. Cool Gals and guys few with genuine and others with non-genuine leather jackets all were enjoying mama ice creams with their papas.
