Shaeen Air Come-back

After two year’s period, Shaheen Air International (SAI) has resumed its operations on different domestic and international routes from the Islamabad airport.

Previously, the airline suffered losses running into millions due to suspension of its flights from Islamabad airport, and even the government had to suffer a huge loss under the head of various taxes. Let’s see the come-back is for how long and how much fruitful … :) Hopefully, no more losses …!

The Shaheen Air International flights were suspended due to a legal battle between the airline and its general sales agent (GSA). However, it has restarted the operations after the tourism ministry informed the airline that it had so far not renewed the license of the GSA.

At present, domestic flights will operate between Islamabad and Multan/Karachi, and on international route to Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Kuwait.

I dont think that a disagreement with a GSA can actually kill all the international flights of an airline. Its just too much to ask for. To the best of my knowledge, Shaheen Air was acquired by a canadaian group while it was going deeper in losses. The international transport traffic was not as strong as local, hence while it was being restructured, the group decided to hold off the international flights and continue local flights.

Atleast thats the story I have heard.

    Hello every one,

I just want to confim this news, 1st shaheen air was not sold to any canadian group, its still operated by pakistani Khakan abbasi family. Secondly it was with dispute with GSA a franchise dealer so thats why it stoped operation from islamabad airport, but now we are back and hope to see you onboard soon.

    Have a nice day….
