Joy Ride To Hell

According to sources, the work on Murree road has just been completed by 30% despite the deadline of June 30 approaching rapidly. The initial plan included adding a third lane on both sides of Murree Road from Faizabad to Dhorki Chowk near Serena Hotel. The additional plan included re-carpeting of the existing road with a cost of Rs 336 million.

The project was delayed in initial stages for two months due to many causes, primarily due to VVIP movement (yes you got it right). Now the poor contractor has to double the shift and target the completion of the project before the deadline approaches.

I sincerely empathize with the commuters of this highway. Trust me when ever I drive through this road, I end up cursing the authorities, especially after the incidents of a few accidents on the road during rain spells. However, health and safety plans are a non issue in any of the public sector projects in the country. Human life is of no value, because in the end we all have to die so life of this world has no significance, right?
