The occupation of the Children’s Library by the Students of a madrassa and how the issue has made a mockery of the “writ of the governments”, a statement which those in power often use when they speak of terrorism or other untoward incidents that challenge its authority. People say now that a handful of law-flouting young men and women have prevailed and “won” what they were fighting for.
Can everyone challenge this writ in the name of religion and get away with it??

I personally like most of the things hot, except cold salad, cold drinks and subway sandwiches.
If you are amongst the some people who like it hot, you might get entertained in the following days at Islamabad Club!!!

Having failed to find any relief the residents of sector F-8/1 and F-82 eventually approached the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, seeking relocation of the Islamabad Traffic Police Offices from the green belt along the 9th avenue to some appropriate and permanent location.
The residents of the area have been voicing their concern since last many years against the location of the Islamabad Traffic Police offices right opposite their homes.
They have been frequently approaching the Capital Development Authority, the ministry of Interior and other concerned departments in the Islamabad Capital Territory Administrations, pleading for the relocation of this office but instead of any positive measure being taken by these departments the size of the Islamabad Traffic Police continued to grow.
These residents seem to have found some measure of relief from the court of the Learned Judge Maulvi Anwarul Haq of the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, who is in his order on the petition filed by one resident directed the secretary interior, and the chairman of the CDA to take up the matter and decide it in accordance with the law and applicable rules and regulations to remove this blatant violation of the Master Plan.
The Learned Judge also set a time frame of eight weeks for and compliance to be reported to the Deputy Registrar (Judicial) of the court.
However, the residents of the area are concerned that despite issuance of the directions by the learned judge, there seem to be no activity that may appear amid at removing/shifting of this office from its present location, which has become a nuisance for the residents of the area, making their lives miserable and violating their privacy.
The Islamabad Traffic Police Officials, also conceded that the office location is not only insufficient and they need a proper place to move to.
They conceded that the presence of the office in the green belts is not only causing problems to the residents of the area but is also in violation of the laid down rules and regulations of the CDA. But they said that they are stuck at the spot because they do no have a proper place to shift to.
Earlier their were plans to relocate the Islamabad Traffic Police office to a new building being constructed in Mauve Area opposite sector G-10/1.
However, it was learnt that the space allocated to the Islamabad Traffic Police offices has been awarded to some other department.

Much much had been planned and thought upon for Fatima Jinnah or F-9 or even capital park. It stands as a major must-visit place, almost on daily basis, for the joggers and walkers, and a long tranquil and serene pathway for couples and friends and families who just want to talk their hearts out while enjoying the soothing Isloo air.
Well, the serenity’s just got affected a bit by the McDonald’s but still overall effect’s just not very bad. The grounds, tracks, benches, lamps, and even washrooms are slowly shaping good, rather attractive.
According to a news report, CDA authorities’ mentioned that in just 6 month’s time, the plan is to complete at least one portion of the park, complete with landscaping, flowers and pottery pools, to greet regular visitors.
It’s a 230 million plan chalked out for THE park - with this much amount no doubt it can stand as a model for the rest of the country’s parks.
(BTW I wonder if they had something like Lahore’s Race Course in mind??)

Rooted in African culture, which traditionally informs its disciplines and persuasions, jazz directly reflects the heartbeat and primal sounds of nature. Jazz is traditionally folk art, but not really that of the Pakistani folk.
A European-Pakistani jazz concert titled “Dialogue through Music” will be held Islamabad on February 24 at the NIC Auditorium. French guitarist Nguyen Le, Berman bassist Dieter Ilg, British drummer Steve Arguelles will be among the perfomers.
So all those jazz lovers who want to swing on the melodic tunes mark your calenders. Entry is free.

Just last week, when the weather became finer and I was out to up in Margallas … Monkeys welcomed us and not one or two monkeys — there were families of them enjoying themselves and probably sun bathing too :>
On our way back, we stopped our car along the path (though unfortunately my cam’s batteries got exhausted after 2-3 pix) so I couldnt take many pix but the monkeys were so cute … and gosh their eyes were so beautiful too .. lolz … really look at the eyes of the ones here below.
And their were so many babies too … they were equally adorable … and while looking at them - I was thinking (loudly) that there’s a certain feel of intellectuality in them … even in their eyes … NO?? They were in playfull mood and were cashing their charms ;-) in form of corns, bananas and what not — oh yah everyone was shooting them too.
BTW, most of them were brown - only one monkey I saw was gray coloured.

The Islamabad district administration will launch a project titled ‘Gateway Islamabad’ for beautifying Rawat. Under the project, headed by the Islamabad assistant commissioner (rural), will launch various development schemes in Rawat, as it is a gateway to the city for people coming from Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan. The administration will help plant trees and green belts will be developed on the GT Road. The administration will soon declare Jawa Road, Rawat’s main road, as one-way to eliminate traffic jams in Rawat Bazaar, while bus and wagon stands would be shifted outside Rawat as well. Under the project, more sanitation staff will be hired to ensure cleanliness in the area. The administration will also remove encroachments from Rawat Bazaar and from various bus stops in the area. The administration has said that it had prepared a list of encroachers and issued notices to them and an operation would be started against them after the deadline. Work on an underpass at GT Road for pedestrians in the area is also expected to start next month.

I swear I don’t know but while going up to Pir Sohawa, a wagon, rather a crowded wagon crossed us. And the song that came to my mind ever since (and whenever I see the pic) is one by some singer sung many many years back ….
Aaaja Meri gaari may bheth jaaa
Long drive jayyeien gay
Ful speed jayein gay
Kaheen rukein gay na hum …
Happy Ride Guys … BTW can you see the guy on top posing for the picture - even giving a smile — I was like Dhayaan say bhai, tasveer kay chakar may don’t drop off ….!

The recent rains have brought about a welcome change in Islamabad’s landscape. Blooming flowers and sprouting trees herald spring.
