Crime rate in Islamabad has witnessed an alarming increase despite beefed up security and patrolling by police after the recent wave of terrorist incidents and suicide attacks in the country.

Car snatching, theft and burglary incidents have increased during the third week of this month as six vehicles and seven motorbikes were stolen during this period from different areas in the jurisdiction of Khosar Police Station alone.

Keeping in view the performance of station house officers (SHOs), the high-ranking officials of the federal capital transferred five SHOs who had failed to check crime rate in their respective areas and appointed other police inspectors as SHOs.

The capital police also managed to arrest two men in connection with Maulana Azam Tariq’s murder, who was killed in 2003 along with his three bodyguards at Golra More.
