China Chowk to be closed for traffic

China Chowk would be closed for traffic for construction of an underpass at this busy crossing for six months from March 4.
CDA said that the contractor had been issued work order and he is all set to start physical work on the project.
The diversion plan has also been finalized and it would be implemented from Sunday. As per plan the traffic coming from Super Market or Poly Clinic would be diverted to Nazimuddin Road and services road of Blue Area instead of entering China Chowk. Similarly, the vehicles plying on Jinnah Avenue would use service roads on both sides on approaching China Chowk.
The contractor had been given six months to complete the underpass at China Chowk where traffic jams — particularly during peak office hours – had become a daily scene.
Matracon Company has already started work at the crossing of Faisal Avenue and Jinnah Avenue for construction of an interchage cum underpass.

I guess this means that residents of Islamabad should buy the recently imported government “catapults” to be transported to their desitinations smoothly, without any obstruction?

Does anyone knows what is the latest on the complex which is going to house a 7-star hotel, besides two residential towers, a shopping centre and an office building, opp. the Hospital Complex?

First and foremoest, there is not even a five star hotel as per the so called “international standards” in Islamabad, if you dare compare them with Plaza, or Hilton or some of the other reputed brands. Where in the world is this seven star thing? The only things that go beyond four stars here are the expensive luxury vehicles owned by guardians of national interest.

Most of the Islooites searching a seven star entity here are living in a state of self denial, and most probably haven’t even stepped out of the city their entire life.
