On The Outside

US_Richard_Boucher.jpgWhile the government is preoccupied with lots of internal pressure due to the sacking of Chief Justice followed by the attack on media, there are external pressure comming in too. Now that the media people have joined the ranks of lawyers for being attacked, US Assistant Secratary of State has arrived in Islamabad. If that was not enough read on for what the internal pressure is calling for, on the Mushraf regime.

Boucher’s visit is the latest in a series of visits from top US officials who have rebuked the Pakistani President for not doing enough to crack down on militants sheltering in the tribal areas by the border with Afghanistan.

For a little background on this the US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher arrived in Pakistan Wednesday evening to pressurize a beleaguered Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf to aggressively crack down on Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants holed up inside Pakistani territory bordering Afghanistan. The visit come even as a crisis meeting of the Pakistan army’s key corps commanders was looming last night as President Pervez Musharraf’s attempts to remove the chief justice backfired.

Boucher, Washington’s point man for South and Central Asian affairs arrived from Kabul on his second visit to Pakistan in two months.
