Last night students from the red mosque (Lal Masjid) raided an acupuncture clinic and massage center allegedly being used as a brothel and kidnapped nine people, including 5 Chinese women. According to reports the abductors, including 10 burqa-clad women students, were armed with batons when they broke into the clinic in Islamabad’s F-8 neighbourhood around 1:00 am. These students arrived at the clinic in three cars before entering the premises. They fled, taking their captives to their mosque in central Islamabad. This incident has raised concerns in the resident Pakistani and expat community, because it gives an impression that sanctity and respect of private life of locals and foreigners is not guaranteed in the capital.
