Posting Better Standards

GPO_1.jpgThis GPO in F-7 has been in operation for quite some while now, and is considered to be a model GPO. Well you hardly feel you are in a GPO once you enter this facility. Clean floors, pleasent staff with crisp and neat uniforms, and music playing in the halls. The second floor houses many modern facilities and the offices are much better in terms of furniture and and interior design. check out the list of facilities that are being provided to the lucky dwellers of F-7.
GPO_Facilities.jpg However I am not really sure if the quality of postal services has improved or not. People here still rely on private postal services especially when it comes to posting important documents and items, despite the fact that they might have to pay twice or more for the service. I for one am not really comfortable with using the national postal service due to horror stories of mishandling.

Commas and fullstops are all in place in sign board. May be not everything from past is lost.

Ahh … you missed mentioning the INTRICATE and BEAUTIFULLY made Mosaic work inside the Post Office. (I wonder if anyone here have more info on it … I remember it took quite some time to have it completed just 2-3 years back).

The postal services have improved a lot in last few years … at least in Islamabad the ins and outs were rarely out of order.

And it’s Post Mall not the traditional GPO :-)

    Kudos for Post Mall

Having lived in the US for many years and then moving back to Pakistan early last year was a real challenge. The most nightmarish experience was at the hands of different government departments that are so notoriously bureaucratic in nature that moving a single application from one desk to another takes ages.

However, my experience at the Post Mall F-7 in Islamabad made me change the stereotype image one has of these departments. Not only is the environment very neat and clean but the staff is also very courteous, customer friendly and caring. Ms. A. Khan, who manages the Post Mall, is a very competent and dedicated professional and personally looks into the problems of elderly clients. The Postal Department deserves full marks and appreciation for doing an excellent public service. Other government departments should learn from Post Mall’s efficiency.

they misplaced my cheque book:( and have no such facility like offering bags for large parcel. one has to find empty cartons from shopkeepers to put their stuff, where as in karachi post office provide sich facilities. services are not as good as their counter parts in other cities.
