Not Showing Everywhere In Pakistan

The much hyped Khud Kay Liyay remains to open in Islamabad and adding much to it’s hype, it is still a myth when that will ever happen.

Everyday that one opens the newspaper to see it’s advertisement on the second page, the “Now Showing Everywhere” begs one to look if the mentioned theaters now list any place in Islamabad or not.

Given to our [read my] xenophobic nature, snobbishness, and classic lethargy, going all the way to Saddar, Rawalpindi to watch this flick is totally out of the question.

Comfortable with my corporate auditoriums and screen rooms, me going to a literally swamped Ciros/whatever cinema [read sinema] seems like a call to the gallows. And who knows, with the on going suicide bombings and moral policing I might be labeled as one of the indulgent infidels and actually sent to one.

With all what God has blessed my life with, I still feel the need to distance myself from a certain group of people to maintain what I think are my rights and my freedoms to protest! The day we grow up about those freedoms and liberties that others can afford, we will be a less immature as a nation.

The same immaturity we showed when two of the three cinemas in the capital were burned down, otherwise I would have already watched the movie!

There is still a working cinema in Islamabad: Kohistan Cinema in Sitara Market (G-7 Markaz). Although the movies they show have never been heard of.
