Opposition MNAs resign over Musharraf vote

Around 80 Pakistani opposition MNAs (Members of National Assembly) resigned from parliament on Tuesday morning in protest at President Pervez Musharraf’s plans to seek re-election, state television showed. The lawmakers from the anti-Musharraf APDM (All Parties Democratic Movemen) handed in their resignations to the speaker of the National Assembly. “We are handing over the resignations today because we consider the election of the president is illegal and unconstititional,” senior alliance member Liaquat Baloch said, before he was cut short by the speaker.

    Good riddance to these hooligans. Their voluntary resignations have no legal or constitutional impact.

    Geo News sounds like its working for the opposition.

    Here comes Musharraf for five more years. He may very well be a dictator, but atleast he is using the constiruion to get re-elected.

    As for the opposition resignation is concerned, we don’t need these crooks in the assembly anyhow.

    The previous leaders were more dictators. Mushy is going through a process, let the process run, that is most important for true democracy. Besides he is also giving up his Army position.

    Create leaders as strong and intelligent as Mushy who have a global impact, only then one can complain, otherwise just chill out. Let the best man lead. It is for the benefit of all.

    Here is a copy of the resignation for all to admire;

    I ___________ MNA of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, hereby, resign from my seat as an opposition MNA because of my utter failure to provide any viable resistance to the most vulnerable military ruler in the history of this country. I was part of the bunch which constitutionally legitimized his rule, furthermore, I am at a loss to reflect the aspirations of the man on the streets and have no clue to address the issues affecting the common man.

    Thanks to the media I will continue to pursue my carrier from the comfy chairs of the satellite channels, away from the crowds and nasty situations.

    Wish me luck,

    Deceptively yours

    Resigned Opp. MNA

    900 choohay khaa kay billian haj ko chalain…after five years of affair with Musharaf, Mullahs would have us fool that they did not support the dictators. This will ensure their success in the coming election.
