EasyLoad becoming easy :|

I read the comment by kamran on NIMS Fashion Show post and it reminded me of a this post on The Pakistani Spectator published recently. Couldn’t resist sharing it with our readers at large. You can read the whole story on the linked blog but pasting an excerpt here that shares the concern:

For the last two weeks, I was harassed, annoyed, cajoled and threatened by some anonymous and obnoxious calls by some five or six persons on my cell number. Initially when one or two guys called me, I took it as routine missed calls in which people tried to exploit the fluke. But then it became a norm, and I was really listened to some horrible music.

[…] I selected one caller, and pretended a friendship with him. I talked with him a little, and even called him once or twice, and he was ecstatic. After some calls and chats, I casually asked him as from where exactly he has got my number. He tried to circumvent the answer, but at last told me that actually he purchased my number from an Easy Load Center of Jazz for Rs. 50. Yes, I went there to re-charge my balance, I recalled in my mind. Upon my shocking voices, he said that it was fast becoming a lucrative business as not only the Easy Load owner sells the numbers, they also sell the visage and figure feature of ladies for extra charges. I knew right there, that the only option I had was to get a new number. That’s what I did.

I can’t paas a word on genuine concerns passed in the post on TPS. But still raise questions in mind … where is this situation (and many others we read and see daily) leading to? Towards an unseen pit of destruction?? And then what???

ps: I know it may not be directly related to Islamabad, it being a metro blog, still I felt it right to share if seemingly-naive things can be abused so. Just a word of caution!

    Its bad to know all this. I think one should get a recharge from some reputed/known shops. I hope they will not do that, but who knows. Best option is the scratch card. NADRA (KIOSK Machines) is also providing this facility.

    @Awahid: But then how many users you can block??

    @Iuknown: Agree :\

    @Hassan: Tragic in every sense.

    @Fatima: =/

    @MP: Scratch cards’ the best choice. Mobile number’s a very personal thing to give away in public.
