get this.........Zibahkhana was due to be released at Lahore's SOZO WORLD on the 28th of December but the cinemas remained closed for four days after the assassination of former PM Benazir Bhutto. The next day (tuesday) the management of the Sozo World stopped screening Zibahkhana due to "poor ticket sales".

Go figure! how could there be any sales when the bloody cinema was closed!

So much for local cinemas supporting local films, fact is they would much rather play Mahesh Bhatt's sleaze week after week. All this talk about Revival of Pakistani cinema is for all to see. Fact is, its more like the revival of Indian cinema in Pakistan! that would be more accurate.

Zibahkhana may well have failed BUT to pull it for poor sales when the cinema was CLOSED is just something else!

DHA cinema in Lahore chooses to snub ZIBAHKHANA in preference for BOLLYWOOD movie GANGSTER, which sadly shows them up to be totally unsuportive of Local cinema while being ready to screen the bowel movements of Mahesh Bhatt and company. A shame on the DHA cinema for refusing to support local Indie cinema. Therefor ZIBAHKHANA is not screening in Lahore as the DHA has thus far refused to schedule it. If you want to ask them why, please do at -

@ A for Apple,
I never comment on Zibahkhana is not an good entertainment show, it may be a good entertainment for everyone or not I dont know about it.

All I commented big time on the whole Media that how they are changing.

Its very strange to hear from you that Islam does not push to adpot such standards, I may be misunderstood you on this comment by you, but as per my understanding you have pointed at KSA Hejab or veils, well KSA have an islamic Govt by the rules of Quran the book of Allah and they made some solid rules that everyone have to fallow it otherwise they can leave the country and can say goodbye to Veils.

I agreed with you that if your inside " Heart & Mind " is BLACK than what ever you do wear or not its useless, but are we not recognized by our surroundings e.g if my room is messed up dirty etc its gives clear view of my personality.

I am 100% agreed with you that we should not put all responsibiliy on our Govt, we have to do some positive every day.

Peace now

@WK: When you are talking about dramas like dhuaan, ABC, what makes you think ... Zibahkhana's not good enough to entertain the lot??

Since its a public forum ... I wont like much to push my personal thoughts here but still. DO you really think KSA is ideal enough to pray for?? They may not allow all that you've mentioned but whats it leading to?? A suppressed nation. The veils are good enough only in KSA, as soon as KSA boundaries are crossed, goodbye is said to veils.

Islam does not push you to adopt such standards in life ... it encourages enlightenment of Soul & Mind. If the mind is polluted, you should not expect any thing positive coming out.

The nurturing of mind is parent's responsibility as allocated by Allah Almighty and not of govt's. Govt has obviously other issues on their hands too (<i>doing or not is an altogether different story</i>).

Cutting the story short, I feel we pakistanis are gtting in a habit of throwing everything t govt and not taking any step by ourselves.

Just my two cents!

JayJay,

Yeah you are right we cant dictate to them, but we can market/present this kind of plans, yep ?

I bet if theaters start showing movies such as
" Khuda Kay Leye ", and some pvt groups stand up to make some soft/cultural/political/drama type movies e.g " DHAWAN ", " Dewarain " ,
" Chorian ", " Alpha Bravo Charly " etc

Families will sure to come to theaters, but who will assure those families that there will be no " Lafangas " in the theater ??

Try try again, may be theaters will gain,.

at the end I would like to comment on our movie makers that, do not copy INDIA because India is copying English Hollywood thats why they are loosing business and its culture and we are trying to copying Bollywood thats why we are no where near Lollywood, I think people instead calling Lollywood will call Lotawood JK ...

@ A for Apple,

I agreed with you, that parents are responsible, but dont forget that Govt is responsible for all people who live in PK, e.g Saudia Arabia, now you will ask how , its simple if Saudia Arabia give prmession to its people that Teens or young people have right to go out in town with hand in hand and can have hugs or kiss in public,,, eeeemmmm.

I hope I made my point here.

Peace now.

WK - The money is invested, not 'spent', by an investor, not by a government. We cannot dictate an private individual where to invest.

I can't agree more with A4PA. If the benign atmosphere of a cinema is indigestable to some, they always have the option of avoiding it by staying home. No-one forces anyone to throng a venue and buy food and drinks there against their wishes. Don't try to scandalize a non-issue. Personal value are, well, personal.

BTW, a blind date is set up between the individuals who have not met previously.

Looking forward to see the movie since, well, seems like foreva =)

@WK: Well do you really think if someone wants to go on what you termed as "Blind Date" they cant do so now?? Do they really need a crowded cinema (with every pair of eyes set on them)??

And BTW nurturing the children well, injecting the religious and cultural values and manners is parent's duty not govt's !!!
