Is it even Justifiable?
I read the following story in today’s Dawn and it left me sour. Can anyone justify this act?? The nation was assured that VVIP culture will end.
A taxi driver rushing his expecting wife to a hospital here last week was blessed with a son but ended up in jail for his pains. His crime? He got into an altercation with a policeman who wouldn’t let him enter a road sealed off for “VVIP movement”.
Rashid Mehmood, the taxi driver, was in great hurry because his wife was having labour pains. But his pleas did not budge the policeman who was guarding the Islamabad Highway as President Pervez Musharraf’s convoy was to pass through it.
A shouting match started between the two, interspersed with the screams of the lady in pains. Her cries made the policeman realize that it was a real emergency and he let the taxi driver go.
Rashid was celebrating the birth of his son with the fami ly on Sunday when police arrived and arrested him for obstructing a government functionary in his work last Wednesday. His wife and children begged the cops to show mercy but their tears did not melt them. Rashid was produced in the court of civil judge Nadia Ikram who sent him to Adiala jail for 14days.
A senior police official conceded that “Rashid did nothing wrong but fate sometimes plays cruel jokes on men“.
Do you think he may have suffered the same, had he been a Grade 21 officer and not a poor taxi driver??

Very inhuman. Feeling bad …..
:'(
I feel very bad for Rashid.
And I feel the same for “us”.
I dont know why media keeps silent on such issues. Only power politics is reported :(
May Justice Nadia Ikram one day go through her labor inside her courtroom one day!
Understand that these people are just saving their jobs by being extra cruel to the people. The real culprit is our uncle Musharraf who doesn’t give a damn about civvies.
Under the circumstances, I would not have taken any risk, if I was Musharafs security.
What if that person had a bomb strapped to him.
What is needed is an alternative routes to the hospitals.
Rationalize not emotionalize every situation.
all “alternative routes” are closed in VVIP culture. GOT IT?
>>”What if that person had a bomb strapped to >>him.”
Why do they act like that so that some one wud try to kill them? Why dont they behave like human beinggs?
*** you PERVEZ MUSHARRAF.
Where is the enlightenment now?
Had this been Iftikhar Chaudhry’s time he would take notice of this inhumane treatment.
once again, *** you PM
@Think again “What is needed is an alternative routes to the hospitals.”
we need a friggin alternate president.. Mush should use helecopters if he is so concerned about his security and stop making public’s life miserable..
i hope the hawks in agencies didn’t reprimanded the poor police man who let this poor guy pass thru..
@Think what if this taxi driver’s newborn was a alqaeda agent.. that’d have surely created problems for mush’s motorcade..
Bush has already talked to Mosharef. They say it was to extend condolences, not congratulations.

@Think “if I was Musharafs security….”
my version of If i was Mush security chief.. i would not block the traffic at all,
-i would simply buy a dozen white bullet proof landcruisers with tinted windows worth a billion rupees(after all we’re talking about security of King Mushrraf so billion rupees is just peanuts)
-Would install jammers in all those vehicles in his motorcade
-a dozen police mobiles would accompany the motorcade with 3 layers of security..
-all those landcruisers from presidential fleet would be scrambled in different directions
and guess in which Vehicle mr Mush would be travelling? well none of the above.. i would make him travel in a Suzuki Fx being driven by burqa clad lady(Mrs Sheba Mush).. i can easily bet no suicide bomber would even touch him…
*wink*
from the rear that suzuki Fx would be covered by CNG cylinder, while the side windows are adorned with truck art(as yu know black tinted windows draw too much unwanted attention)
