Well, i recently just got a glimpse of this post here and then today i watched the video of the raid on youtube. so i came back and read these posts.watching the videos of the raid i was impressed with the isb police…it was like watching those SWAT programs on tv.but i only got 2 read here that the influential ppl were free including the politicians and the foreign diplomat.

i also thought intially like you, that these places in other cities also so how much good would this do.but in other cities they are specific ‘areas’ while here this was being done in a residential area. even in western countries these kinds of activities are not allowed under the law in residential areas.

@ Mansoor: There goes the neighborhood. Perhaps people do reserve the right to allow and disallow the ‘kind’ of activities that go around in their neighborhoods. I mean I won’t pay a fortune just to buy a mansion in a red light district and raise a family there, now would I?

The fact that they are catering to ‘anyone’ who is willing pay makes it a very public place (just like Hotspot or McDonalds) and a public nuisance. Drinking is forbidding and usage of liquor is banned all over Pakistan according to the Islamic provisions of the Constitution. And I do believe this kothi is on Pakistani land!

More over this facility is NOT built on commercial land, so it should be kicked out asap.

@ Pineapple: What you forgot to mention was that the friend of the newly elected assembly’s member (MNA) got away! That is they were released without charge!

asma, im really surprised by your support of witch hunts.

places like these operate ALL over the city, rather the country. Its woven inextricably into the social fabric of our country. Booze and women are just shunned publicly, though privately its a very large and extremely lucrative business!

anyway, apart from that, like someone mentioned in your last post, this was a PRIVATE club! which means they were catering to a select group of people and not spoiling the society at large! Only people willing to pay, and willing to be part of the club, were involved. That is people’s right, to do what they want as long as society is not affected in a negative manner.

Asma, I live in same street, but I even didn’t know whats going on there. :D. I too came to know after police raid that there is something fishy going on there. By the way that was not an ex MNA but a hazir service…newly elected from Muzaffargarh. I guess he was celebrating his victory there. P.S this club was inaugurated same day when Operation Silence ended by ‘honorable’ SUMAIRA MALIK.
