The placard protest is much, much more dignified.

Employee Union for the utility workers whose offices had been destroyed by angry protestors are demanding compensations and reinstatement of their boss who has been suspended. Or else? Well of course more load shedding! *chuckles*

    *shakes head*

I would also vote for the wise elderly man’s way. It’s so sad we keep burning our own home. Huq ha!

Well I thought as per your advice and now I will like to add my two bits as follows:
The silent protest of the person simply carrying a placard is the protest of a person who seems to be reasonably well off financially, fairly educated, is likely to suffer in some way if things don’t remain peaceful and yet feels it is his moral duty to protest against something which he feels is just not right.
The other type of violent protest showing destruction of public or private property is the protest of those who are perhaps not employed, have families to support, bearing the brunt of the shortages and inflation, have not much to lose whether things are peaceful or otherwise. Prima facie they may also be protesting against the ocuupation of Iraq and Afghanistan by America but that is just an excuse or an opportunity for them to protest against their miseries and prevalent social injustice.
So Ma’am, you may not like it or it may come as a surprise to you when I say that the second type of protest showing the destruction of property is much much more profound than the silent protest. Mind you I am saying ‘PROFOUND’. Not good or bad. Not right or wrong. Just PROFOUND. And that was precisely your question. Wasn’t it???
    Now you think !!!

    fauzan the pakistani flavor, Huh?

Hasan We prevail on the un-wiseness, No?

Wkhang Okay may be … but what benefit or losses will come our way?

Kabirdas Your point’s very much valid. I agree but the point is cant we put our frustrations and shortcomings in right way … a way that can help the country in broader perspective?? The voice getes heard this way but instead of benefiting we are harboring demons of wrath by our act.

    kaun samjhayay :\

You say: " cant we put our frustrations and shortcomings in right way …"
I say: A Persian saying answers your quesstion most aptly as follows: ‘Tang aamid ba jang aamid.’

    You say:" Kaun samjhayay"
I say: Any one who understands and feels their pain and is willing to help out in practical terms.

Now look at this whole issue this way. I have been protesting against Musharraf’s illegal and unconstitutional actions since 09 March 07 as a respectable member of the civil society more actively and effectively and more peacefully (by the use of my pen relentlessly both abroad and in country) than your peaceful demonstrator in the first picture. You know where we stand regarding restoration of Judiciay as of today. Now if I find that the judiciary is not going to be restored as expected and as promised will you blame me if in utter desperation and frustration I go on the street and throwing my pen away pick up few rocks to throw at some symbal of state power in the hope this might be the language which the power that be may understand .

I am still open to some suggestion when there is still some time to go for the realization of my demand. So I will say: O wise one if you can: TUM MUJHAY SAMJHAO !!!
