Tree-t me nicely.
“Hello, I am an ordinary tree. You use me to put up banners, you sit in my shade, you throw banana peels all around me but I don’t complain. You use knives to cut me, so your lover can come see and be “oh so happy”. You pick up stones and throw them at me so your aim can be perfect. But I never say a thing. I protect you from the sun, I take all dust on me so you don’t get any nasal infections. I am green, green means peace, I am peace.
“Yet when you feel the need, you cut me, turn me into furniture and sit on me. Yet when you feel the need you cut off my leaves and there I am, standing stark naked, but you don’t see that do you?. You never think twice that I live, I breathe, and I feel. Fine I know my folks were cut because they were old, but hey, don’t burn me to feel warm. Don’t cut me for the sake of making a road to facilitate some important persons security. Don’t cut me and throw me away. I am me. TREE-T ME NICELY”
Save the trees, SAVE THE PEACE, SAVE THE GREEN, SAVE IT….
O Tree! I read your heart felt tale and was moved to tears after realizing the mistreatment you have been facing all along. Don’t worry o dear tree. I will protect you and stand by you whenever you need me. I am in your debt for all the ‘gifts’ that you have bestowed upon me.
You give me oxygen
You give me shade
You give me a place where
I can rehabilitate
You are nothing
But kind
And in return never ask
Even for a dime
I pledge to save you
And the rest of your tree-beings
This is a promise
Of a concerned responsible human being

=) Glad the message got heard. It aches me when someone cuts a tree for some reason or the other, specially cutting forests to pave way for development.
I am always with you guys ! I am a tree lover : ).
Yup i share the same feelings. I always feel that there can be workarounds to make roads and buildings while keeping the trees intact. But i think the majority is so addicted to doing stuff quick, it doesn’t hesitate chopping off any tree that comes in the way even slightly. May we all learn the importance of keeping the trees alive, standing and fluttering. Ameen.

Yesterday I was at a car wash and right across it was one of the few left green belts, I took my book and just sat under a tree , the leaves were falling like crazy. It was an amazing place just to sit in the shade with the light filtering through and it reminded me, why I came back to Islamabad and why I loved this city so much. But the next thought was a sad one knowing in a couple of years the next generation most probably won’t have the same feelings or the reasons to love the place. This shade will be replaced by another construction or just another road.
