Energy Savers to Light the Streets of Islamabad?
This sight caught my eyes and I gasped in amazement.
Are we now so “advanced” that we are using energy savers to light our streets? Or have we transformed into such “responsible citizens” that let alone our homes, we are lighting our streets with energy savers to “conserve energy”?
PS: I could be the biggest fool who does not know the difference between an energy saver and the original bulb for such sockets. ;-) If somebody can clarify, please do.
Ordinary bulb: 100W
Energy savers: varies between 10-20W
Meaning: less energy consumed, less heat produced. In some cases, the energy savers can equal the amount of light emitted by an ordinary bulb.
There’s your Physics lesson for the day :)

Thanks for the lesson in Pysics. :-) But what i really wanted to know was if what i spotted was really an energy saver or did the ordinary bulbs for such street-light sockets looked like that by default. :-D hehe
It sure looks like a saver to me. Why didn’t they just stick the stick inside the larger bulb enclosures above? Stupid planning.
@ crazymonkey
I think the ‘globe’ for this one was broken. And maybe they didn’t put it in the large holder because it didn’t fit. :-D But i sure hope that they do install energy savers in ‘all’ holders. Might as save some electricity on the streets too. :-)

What good is saving energy when we are so determined to march towards the dark ages when the sun light sufficed!!
