PM…

It’s all over the TV. Prime minister Gillani to announce something to the nation. The rally has been allowed to pass through Kalah Shah kakoo on motorway albeit a lot of tear gas enabled people there to make the rally disperse.

What’s coming up. Announcing a successful negotiation with the long march flag-bearer?

Let’s wait and see…

CJ Chaudhri has been restored which means the action of 03 Nov of Mush was illegal and uncostitutional which means from now onward there will be rule of law in Pakistan which means Pakistan has been saved which also mean now we are on a better footing to combat the forces of extremism. I congratulate all my friends of IMB for whatever contribution they made for this to happen.
    Long live Pakistan.

It is very very odd and somewhat disturbing to see the person who is said to have ordered all the blockages and suppression of the long march actually congratulating the people who he intended to quieten. He is the most expressionless and bland politician I have ever seen on television. At least he should have said something without reading from that speech he prepared!

He is a good guy. He is a democrat. Tht is enough for me to have him as our PM.

    Hey! @kabirdas Congrats!

It so happened that your dharna was not even needed, bit of anti climax. Now the test of your Thomas Moore theory begins…in the meantime rejoice, as i said earlier, may I be proven wrong or shall I say do prove me wrong.

There shouldnt be any extra ordinary expectations from Iftikhar He presides over an Applet body and guards the constitution and thats all. How vital will be the already battered constitution in the future? thats another question. BTW On Nov 3 Mush himself said what I am about to do is extra-constitutional. That was never in doubt.

Lets see how things unfold, if there is a fight against extremeism I’ll be there on the other hand, I will defend Mush.

    P.S. Sorry for multiple posts.

    @ kaami

Thanks. I could never believe that the issue will get resolved so soon and so peacefully. If Zardari continued in this manner I may vote again PPP with him as its head. But would he that is a big question.

However, now that the objective has been achieved KD is in favour of RECONCILIATION and NOT TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION. The truth part will not help in moving forward fast. Let us now forget about what happened in the past and who did what and who was right and who was wrong. Let us just learn from our past and shape our future accordingly. We all made all kind of mistakes and we are responsible, one way or the other, for the mess we got ourselves into.

Yesterday I spent a day in Gilgit with Jonathan Powel. I met him for the first time and before this didn’t know who he was. He was the Chief of Staff of British PM Tony Blair and played a very important role in resolving the issue of Irish Insurgency. He was the chief negotiator to negotiate with Irish rebels a peaceful solution. He is still a member of the team which is negotiationg with Irish Rebels to end this dispute once for all.
He gave me a copy of his book which he wrote recently about this issue and how it is being resolved.

The name of the book is: Great Hatred, Lttle Room (Making peace in Northern Ireland). In this book he mentions that even Nelson Mandalla’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission was not such a good idea and created lot of problems which could have been avoided by just having a Reconciliation Commission. He is advocating a Reconcialation Commission for amiable settling the Irish dispute without bringing in the Truth part in it.

Before I met him I was thinking of formation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Pakistan after the restoration of judiciary on the pattern of Nelson Mendalla’s Commission for Truth and Reconciliation. After my brief discussion with Jonathon Powel I have started seeing eye to eye with him and believe the best way forward for us would be just Reconciliation and not Truth and Reconciliation. The truth will bring back many old bitter memories and open up many old wounds which have already healed to some extent and lead to a neverending acrimonious debate. This may bog us down to where we are right now.

If we decided to bring out the truth also before reconciliation you may find me defending Mush even his 03 Nov 07 action which I otherwise repudiated, detested and rejected whole heartedly. Does what I am sayingg make sense to you ???
