Solar Eclipse: July 22, 2009

Today many among us witnessed the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century in Pakistan along with other countries of the world. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department the eclipse was supposed to start at 5:58 a.m. and end at 11:12 am. Earlier the MET department had also declared that a total solar eclipse would be visible from India, China, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Japanese Islands and South Pacific Ocean [Source: The News].

We did miss the “total” eclipse by ‘a country’ but whatever we got was worth having. The sun shadowed by the moon looked absolutely magnificent. It resembled a large cookie out of which somebody had neatly taken a large bite. For those of you who missed out on this event, here is a snap so that they may share in the experience as well. :-)

I hope all among us who witnessed this cosmic phenomenon protected their eyes as well and saw the eclipse through thick protective screens. I am not sure if it was protection enough but i used an x-ray to view the glorious sun. It was a sight worth seeing. :-)

    @ wasiq
Sorry for not keeping you abreast of my state of health. Believe me I am still alive and kicking dreaming about the houris who may be waiting to take me in their arms. After a series of tests I am now due for the second opinion of a surgeon on 04 Jul after which the surgery will be scheduled. I will let you know about the date of surgery so that you can drink to my good health which may prove to be more effective than any prayer. Ah! but the drink must have bit of alcohol in it to be effective. Please let Fasee also know about my state of health.

    @ wkhang

Since when, after Jonah, praying has done any good to any one. Jonah’s getting out of the whale’s tummy with the help of prayers is only one amazing exception So for God’s sake or for Christ sake, if you will, don’t throw this crap of praying at me when I am down and under. Please do drink to my health if you can instead of wasting your breath and time on prayers.

    @ montaleast13

Sir, you disappoint me. Please google for kabir das (kd) and find out who he is.

    Hey guys!

I have found an amusing strategy, when asked whether I am an atheist , to point out that the questioner is also an atheist when considering Zeus, Apollo, Amon, Ra, Mithras, Baal, Thor, Wotan, the Golden Calf, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster . I just go one god further.

@KD sarkar……glad and relieved to hear from you….the navy did not give any indications about your passing away nor did the family and friends invited me on the tenth….so I knew there was something wrong… the date is still not fixed…and you mean 4th of aug…you have erroneously said 4th of july….I’ll let fasee sab and others at KMB know that you are still down on earth….in the land of the free who wont talk to you without the buck…
Btw…thanks for introducing me to the flying spaghetti monster….its definitely new to me….and sir what about my Loki you forgot to mention it in the list….he might haunt you in the guise of a black nurse….or is it the dawkins list….
anyways….good to know that you can eat the halwa(15th shaban) atleast one more time…your name was not in the going away list the last time….
