This is the most creatively directed music video in the history of Pakistans Indie Music scene! Kudos to you sir for an excellent job!
In other words, Its Awesome!
We didn’t sit down and plan this video. Hasan (the vocalist) did some snazzy stuff with a photo shoot of ours that Ali Maqbool did over the same song and I said “hey yaar let’s do it properly”.. So We borrowed a camera from a friend and well shot. The difference in the black and white and sepia part is because of the camera. But we shot it ourselves and Hasan edited it :)

Technical Review:
Audio:
The mixing needs to be improved. Seems like no mastering was performed. Audio engineer must enhance vocal clarity (not to be confused with quality). Backup vocals also needed. Would like to see more experiment with synths and sounds to support lead guitar. Bass is virtually missing, where is it. Try breaking away from the regular pakistani pop song structure “with a lead/instrumental part” explore beyond that as thats where creativity lives.
Video:
Budget constraints are apparent. However try avoiding PAL (Asia/EU) or NTSC (US) formats and bring (convert) frame rate down to 24 fps (frame per second) to match film rate. Plugins r now available, try using magic bullet with Adobe After Effects or Apple Final Cut also try Apple Motion (stay away from Adobe Premier and other PC/microsofty programs). Avoid cheesy overdone wedding-video type Sepia tone effects (too 80s). Avoid showing Ibanez or ANY other brand names (as channels may disqualify the video from broadcasting due to legal issues)
Over all good concept, great potential. Looking forward to seeing more work. Be consistent and take it seriously. Leverage from digital media as much as possible (it works).
cheers n good luck

Pakistan Rising

It amazes me when people talk out of their asses. Pray tell what you think ‘mastering’ means? Of course it doesn’t matter that Pakistan has no real ‘mastering’ facility, nor a real ‘mastering’ engineer. Certainly there are a few engineers that do a decent job at ‘polishing’ a two-track mix but they don’t ‘master’. We barely have a few places that record live drums for fuck’s sake. Sorry, slapping an L2 Ultra Maximizer on the master bus post a multi-band EQ or vice versa does not ‘mastering’ constitute. Neither does running a two-track mix through a combo of a TC Finalizer Express and a BBE Sonic Maximizer, and printing it back to tape. You wanna know what real ‘mastering’ is? Look up Mid-Side Mastering for starters. Oh and BTW, since ‘vocal clarity not to be confused with quality’is such an issue, why not call up Sarmad Ghafoor (a very competent engineer)and give him a few pointers on the right Q, CF and gain settings for the vocals? And if you can’t hear the bass once the downbeat kicks in, you need to get your hearing checked. What kind of crack are you smoking to think this song has a ‘regular pakistani pop song structure’? There is plenty of aliasing going on for sure in the video audio, but that might be the way the audio was down-sampled during rendering. I would LOVE to hear what you’ve tracked/composed, since quite frankly, talk is dirt cheap. Oh and BTW, a pointer on how to make Pakistan REALLY rise, ‘Pakistan Rising’, is sticking to what you know.
