The Siege of Lal Masjid: Day 4 - Operations Intensify!

LiveBlog documenting Day 4 of the tragic saga in Islamabad. Keep posting your Comments. You can read another of our earlier posts about the situation as specops and other military forces assembled outside Lal Masjid!

A for [Pine]Apple reports,

A person got hit by a bullet while having dinner at his house in F-6/1. He’s been brought to Poly Clinic. One such case in these 5 days.

7th July 11:15 PM
Residents of F-6 are hearing shots being fired from the Lal Masjid area. This is scary. They are saying its continuous firing of various guns as most of them sound different.

7th July 8:45 PM
A recorded broadcast of a press conference from the Ministry of Interior said,

There is crossfire, and one cannot identify who got shot by who.

Does it mean they are suggesting friendly fire on the military’s side? At least they could release the number of wounded on their end. They also said,

The numbers of dead inside are not being properly conveyed, and they are contradicting their earlier claims.

Lastly, there is nothing wrong with having a live press conference broadcast, everything at this moment is random and one CAN be in a situation where they cannot give a definitive answer to a certain question. Also, if they could inform the people at what time they will be broadcasting a press conference it would be extremely useful to all of us. Since I couldn’t follow the entire thing, I can only quote two things that were said.

7th July 6:15 PM
There has been any significant development in the situation thus far. Which is really sad considering the agony it has caused, the blood that has been spilled and the ones that still need medical attention. Yes, there are people inside the Lal Masjid that have bullet and shrapnel wounds and need urgent treatment. The only thing holding them back are the madmen inside, that threaten to kill them if they try to leave, or rather ‘escape’. While my worthy team mates provide you with detailed accounts, I thought I provide you with some Google Earth shots and label them for our readers who want to link a picture of the area to their blogs. So here they are,

Vicinity of Lal Masjid, the Markaz of G-6. You can safely assume that the Melody Food Park is further north, adjacent to Holiday Inn. Both the places that were full of like on all days of the the week are now deserted to a good extent:

This second picture shows you the general setting of G-6 in Islamabad and some important structures nearby. Had this action against the insurgents of Lal Masjid not been taken, the matter could have been worse:

The bullets are said to have spread in all four directions from this area. Landing in places as far as the south face of F-6, and Blue Area.

7th July 6:15 PM
The conditions are still not very different from last night. A young kid, Jawad of 14, managed to escape from Lal Masjid (sans burqa). He said people are threatened to be killed if they will go out.

IESCO has extended the date of Bill Payments till 17th July without any surcharge. Gas of G-6/3 is resumed but the other three sectors are still facing difficulties regarding Gas and Electricity. Sherpao says that shortly span of area with curfew would be lessened. For relief of people living in G-6 area, more utility vans would be sent during curfew break.

7th July 3:50 AM
As the rain silenced the muzzles, the sound of thunder, wind and a welcoming adaan take one over in moments of confusion and despair.

There has so far been no great development in the Operation Silence, ak since long as Operation Lal Deen. I am trying to get Google Earth so I can post some cool pics of the area we are talking about. Hopefully.

7th July 3:23 AM
I have suggestion for the army outside. Use helicopters to survey the area from a good height, recon constantly! Use floodlights to light up the area. Don’t leave a single spot of shadow, anywhere. Escaping in darkness is easier than in lights. Just a thought. Helicopters can also provide a great platform for lighting up a huge area.

7th July 2:45 AM
It was heard that the Jamia Faridia men were dragged inside when they got shot. It is not hard to imagine how grim the situation is inside the mosque where the dead and injured lie dying.

Rasheed and his mother are still inside. The mother is said to be aged and being used as a tool to escape arrest from time and time again. Rasheed has repeatedly used her health as a knife to cut open the negotiations earlier today. When that failed, he opted to make a stand and fight. He too has closed all venues of negotiations with the forces outside.

7th July 2:40 AM
Backpacker reports:

It has started raining in Islamabad. Sources close to ground zero reported that just as it stopped raining a few militants tried escaping from the north side of the complex who were shot down by security forces and their dead bodies are lying close to the drain next to the mosque.

7th July 2:31 AM
Backpacker reports:

In a recent update by Islamabad Capital Police, Jamia Fareedia in E-7 which is twice the size of Jamia Hafsa was peacefully taken over by the police. The sources reported no explosions in the vicinity which denies earlier reports of massive explsions in E-7.

7th July 2:30 AM
Rain and winds add to the eeriness of the silence after a number of explosions and dozens of emptied magazines… the lights on the roads are on, but no one is driving a car tonight. The nation is glued to the tube. Testing moments for a nation about to turn 60 in 37 days. Our strength comes from perseverance in the face of adversity… not in radicalism!

7th July 2:12 AM
backpacker reports,

In a recent update the Islamabad Capital police announced that people living in a 3 KM radius around G-6 should not come to their roof tops, or their terraces or their courtyards, to avoid any mishap by becoming a victim of stray gunfire. That’s because the firing range of the weapons being used in operation have an effective range of 3+ KM. This means that residents of G-5,G-6,G-7,F-5,F-6,F-7,F-8, Diplomatic Enclave people traveling on Kashmir highway, and people traveling on Margalla road, should take extreme caution and avoid coming out in the open. Earlier a man was killed on top of Serena Hotel, and later another was injured by stray bullets in front of PolyClinic in G-7.

This is a public service announcement on behalf of the ICP by IMB! Meanwhile, the heavens above put on a show of benevolence and here in Islamabad we have light drizzles unlike last night when it was raining cats and dogs.

7th July 2:03 AM
Faint gunshots can be heard from a distance of 4 to 5 KMs. The TV shows there is smoke and fire on the Jamia Hafsa building, but the light pollution disallows me to make anything out. For a person who has spent his major childhood in Karachi in the 90s, I for know what gun shots sound like. HORRIFIC!

7th July 1:30 AM
The problem might just have exasperated by the operation as F-7 and E-7 are rocked by gun fire, and explosions. Jamia Faridia is located in E-7. Good God… help Islamabad. What the heck!!! >:X These might be the same students that were released yesterday. I fear they have regrouped and rearmed. Damn…

7th July 1:30 AM
Earlier, Ahmed reported,

Some development as reported by www.onlinenews.com:

ISLAMABAD: Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Rashid Ghazi Friday showed willingness to hand over 3 orphans.

It has learnt that member of MMA Shah Abdul Aziz made a telephonic contact with besieged leader of Lal Masjid extremists to know about situation of teenage students, female and male, requested for their hand over, guaranteed for their proper look after but Lal Masjid mullah imparted that there were no teenagers in Mosque as propagated by government expect three, one male and two females, could be handed over on the pledge of their proper bring up.

Later on, Maulana Aziz had informed and discussed this development with officials of Interior Ministry to hatch a mechanism for the custody of these orphans.

Mega phones being used to inform the press and media men around to move back, further, from the firing zone.

7th July 1:18 AM
SHOTS FIRED! Firing from both ends in the standoff, Lal Masjid have opened fire with the Spec Ops doing the same! Heavy firing heard from the G-6 area as far as G-10. Ambulances can be heard rushing towards hospitals. The Special Forces have made a final move in as it seems. 7.7.7 in the making!?

The specops had already assembled as reported earilier!

Rain started … and lately the operation is taking a hype. Let’s see if it still go on for days or few hours …!

  2. d0ct0r (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:22 am

while talking to media Information Minister Durrani said that “from now onward no one from Lal Masjid would be humiliated in front of media” … earlier Mushrraf said that inquiry should be conducted into who ordered Maulana Abdul Aziz’s interview in Burqa on PTV.. isn’t it halarious that Mush is asking who is responsible :P

  3. Phil (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:26 am

The burqa episode was very dumb, but the dude had a dumber smirk on his face when he was unveiled. Damn that was pathetic.

  4. d0ct0r (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:28 am

it was quite ammusing to hear a reporter telling that some of the personnel of Punjab police and elite force were found complaining that they’re not being properly fed and since last 3 days their duties are not rotated and they’re continuously in the field and since morning they just had some tea(some of them didn’t even got that coz disposable glasses finished) and a small piece of cake… majority of our tax payer’s money goes into debt reservicing and defense budget and still our forces are not being properly fed? quite halarious..

  5. d0ct0r (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:38 am

mush loves humiliating people publicly, be it prime minister,Nuclear scientist, chief Justice any one on his bad side gets humiliated and later on he orders an inquiry..

  6. Phil (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:38 am

On the flip side, there are dozens of injured and dead inside the compound… and they are probably living without food too.

  7. Tamed~. (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:43 am

Phil, pineapple & rest of the team at IMB, you are doing a great job.

May Allah brings peace & harmony to this almost 60 yrs old country.

  8. d0ct0r (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:47 am

devastation from flood rain and cyclone was enough of a crisis for the nation and Mush shouldn’t have triggered all this at this time, now forces are complaining about duty rotations, obviously forces are occupied all over pakistan fighting Pakistanis and waziristan NWFP and dera bugti Baluchistan and also trying to patrol the porous Pak Afghan border, and also busy in flood relief work in all three provinces (NWFP,Sindh,Baluchistan) …

  9. Phil (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:47 am

*takes a bow* on behalf of the entire team :)

  10. Harris (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:52 am

Maulana sahab should’ve told media that the agencies have provided them with weapons and ammunation, and media should be allowed inside the Mosque, as to show who’s attacking who, like RPG being fired, who knows from where the RPG was fired,

ps: If there’s no electricity, how are Lal Masjid people managing to get WATER supply for four days, food supply and THE MOBILE PHONE CHARGING, as Molana sahab is continuously communicating with media…..

Any body seen Live with Talat and Bolta Pakistan (Mushtaq Minhas and Nusrat Javed) on Aaj TV? May Allah protect them as they’ve clearly said that Mushi is trapped in his own stupid drama, esp the assassination.

  11. d0ct0r (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:04 am

all day long in an attempt to disconnect the gas connection , gas company officials were digging roads near Lal Masjid trying to locate the pipe which supplies gas to the masjid.. when they were unable to locate it in the end and got frustrated then they suspended the whole of G6’s gas…

  12. Harris (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:07 am

As far as the interview in the burqa is concerned, I am all for it! Mullah wore it by himself to escape while telling poor dumb souls to fight till death. He should be made an example for anyone who tries to use religion for their political motives in the future.

If the Mullah was so concerned about his honor, he should have given up with his head held high not while hiding behind a veil. He had the right to refuse any interview in burqa but not only that he wore it he actually justified his actions and was quite proud of himself for doing that.

  13. Ahmed (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:09 am

First of all kudos to the team at IMB you guys have been really really vigilant in reporting all the updates that are happening out there. Keep it up.

As Harris also mentioned I was also wondering how the heck does he get his cell phone charged if the electricity is out how come his cell phones still responding kiya cell phone ammunition pae chalta hae. Is there a possibility that they have landline phones that are still working. Also, I bet they have loads of ammunition too as it was reported that lal masjid has 2 levels of basement

  14. Harris (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:13 am

Ahmed there have been reports cum rumors that Abdul-Aziz is not in the Mosque, he’s out somewhere near the mosque.

  15. d0ct0r (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:18 am

well they certainly have electricity and generators inside, some of them must have been running on gas as well, which could be the reason why officials from gas company were ordered to disconnect whole of G6’s gas if they’re not able to find that specific pipe supplying gas to Masjid.. secondly some land lines must have been left intact by officials to, otherwise there won’t be any medium of communication left , remember there are many women and children inside and they simply can’t cut off all communication with them…

  16. d0ct0r (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:20 am

@Harris Abdul Aziz captured, you must be talking about junior Maulana ghazi?

  17. d0ct0r (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:25 am

after viewing Kamran Khan’s telephonic interview with Maulana Ghazi and Aftab Sherpao things have become quite clear, they want safe passage for all those inside , whereas otherwise they’re willing to go down fighting… now govt won’t at all agree on safe passage, so the showdown and bloodshed is quite imminent…

  18. Ahmed (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:25 am

    @harris
I think you meant maulana rashid ghazi his brother aziz is already in custody

    @doctor
I agree they might have functional landlines to keep the channel of communication open

Do you think they can run out of water it has rained again overnight they might stock that water and use it for survival

  19. Tamed~. (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:26 am

Is it quite in ISB now ?

  20. A for [pine]apple (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:30 am

it’s raining cats and dogs again :)

  21. Phil (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:33 am

I am sorry for the format glitches here and there. There is some code that gets erased, that needs to be typed out again, hence. But it wont stop you from posting comments.

  22. Ahmed (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:37 am

dogs sae yaad aaya. Do security forces have these dogs they can help in capturing those sneeky escaping militants

  23. Phil (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 4:54 am

    I guess not…

Had they been facing a force like Al Qaeda, their preparedness would have seriously been tested.

  24. BitterTruth (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 5:12 am

APC is today so it is unlikely to be solved in next 24 hours. Security forces have left 2 generators working, why?. how come Lal masjid guyz have huge supply of Petrol to keep running 3 generators for 3 days? Why not use a stink bomb? if they dont know how to make they can ask 9th grade student which gas produce rotten egg smell.

    salam,

I would like to remind those behind this blog that please treat this issue very seriously and fairly. Please avoid making it look like a “hollywood” operation. Your posts are reflective of a childish atitude towards this very serious issue. Hundreds of innocent lives are stake here. Just because we have ideological differences does not mean their blood can be shed. Please keep this in mind and keep your atitude in check.

    Thanks.

  27. Kami (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 10:10 am

    Taking inspiration from Ahmed;

Woh tou Aziz hey burqay mein nikal jaaey gaa
Masla Rasheed ka hey, woh kidhar jaaey gaa?

Hamid, agreed that its a very serious issue but I am not prepaid to give any respect to these leaches who are sucking our blood. Their allies in Swat just killed six brave soldiers. Maulana Fazlullah of Swat wants to establish shariat in his area. He started by kicking out polio workers from his territory, saying that any child who dies from polio will be shaheed and vaccination is unislamic. Indeed these guys are to be taking seriuosly but treated like common criminals.

  30. Hamid (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 11:04 am

    Kami,

So you think the thousands of students in the madrasa should be KILLED? It’s because of senseless people like you, we are in the state we are in today.

  31. Ahmed (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 11:27 am

I think nobody is stressing that we should kill everyone in the madrassah. Everyone here would agree that nobody wants bloodshed if govt wanted to kill they could have bombed the place and there would be nothing left but rubble. I think govt is following a policy of restraint at this time. What is so wrong in surrendering if they are clean why not come out and give themselves up. Anyone who fights the forces of Pakistan is not a friend of Pakistan is the logic too hard to understand???

  32. Ahmed (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 11:31 am

and ghazi sahab is now threatening that he will turn isb into baghdad wow such are the intentions!!!

  33. Hamid (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 11:58 am

    Ahmed,

You seem to be a very unintelligent person if you think our government is acting in the best interests of its citizens. The government cannot be interested and if they really want to resolve the issue they can but they refuse to negotiate and diffuse this situation. It is very clear that they have not dignity of human life as you can see they have already killed scores of male and female students, not to mention starving them to death with the cut off of water and gast. You seemed to have only mentioned the negative aspects but you and your likes refuse to realize the humanitarian situation at hand. There are 2000 or so individuals at risk of imminent death and you are worried about hollow threats Ghazi sahib is making. He is a powerless individual. The ball is in the government’s court. They need to get their act together and resolve this situation instead of playing with the lives of hundreds of innocent men and women for their lowly political purposes.

    Thanks,
    Hamid

  34. Hamid (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 12:01 pm

People need to stop fanticizing about a “hollywood” operation situation. This is a serious matter. The defense forces of our country should be used against our enemies not against a helpless madrasa with 15 GUNS .. I repeat 15 guns only .. compare that with 12,000 ARMED FORCES PERSONNELL. Is this level of operationg against their own citizens justified?

  35. Ahmed (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 12:17 pm

ok so i am unintelligent person now :)
when did I say that there is no humanitarian situation ofcourse there is whats the solution let them out whats the problem in doing that. Isnt this action of stopping supplies better than bombarding the whole place. This has resulted in those 1200+ people that were freed in these 3-4 days valuable lives were saved and I am hopeful that more lives would be saved.

and abt the 15 guns you cant be so sure abt that can you?.Anyways I dont want to argue because this will go nowhere I wish for a peaceful solution.

    Long live Pakistan
    Pakistan Zindabad

  36. Sa'ad (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 12:44 pm

Hamid you remind me of Hamid Mir. Cant you just sit for a moment and let the guys do their job. Why must you moan over every single minute thing that YOU think should be done YOUR way. Obviously as it has been said, if the gov wanted bloodshed, they could have bombed the place mosque or otherwise. These people ARE enemies of the state. They shot at the army. Immediately that makes them anti state elements and are liable to be shot down or arrested. If their supplies run down, let it be, so we can resolve this thing and move on. I am a humanitarian too but i have a problem if one human tries to take my life or exerts his way of life on me, then i am what you call a non-vegetarian for that human.
    So kindly, please STFU.

Even foreign enemies at war time are not treated like this. This government (and its stooges like Sa’ad above) have *totally* lost it.

  41. Hamid (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 2:14 pm

The fraud government is preventing the MMA delegation to enter the Lal Masjid by refusing to cease fire. Musharraf is showing his true colors.

  42. Shueyb Gandapur (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 2:15 pm

Hamid, how would you like the government to treat those who are still inside the mosque and have refused to surrender?

  43. mo0hamed ali (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 2:53 pm

when anyone in your family gets sick and cannot be treated in pakistan you try to send them abroad for treatment. so why not call for help from usa or russia? looks like pakistan cannot do the job.
russia has a gas that can make all these hostage takers go to sleep for a while. this will make the govt takeover the area with no blood shed. common pakistan wake up and get these fanatics out of circulation. the longer you wait the more trouble there is going to be. some ppl say the students who were released are regrouping and planning new attacks on the army. it would not surprise me if the army is hit from behind, that is to say, the fundos will encircle the army and
pick them out one by one, so the sooner this is finished the better it is.

    Mohamed Ali and Sa’ad,

I would like to ask you both. Do you think all these people deserve death? It sounds like cold blood flows in your body.

  45. d0ct0r (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:17 pm

Maulana Abdul Aziz ’s lawyer yesterday said in court said Maulana Abdul Aziz was asked by some high government authorities to leave the mosque in a Burqa to hold discussions with the government in order to find a way out of a possible clash between Lal Masjid students and security agencies personnel. He said Maulana Abdul Aziz was tricked by the government into humiliated submission and he was tortured and shown on state tv clad burqa …

its quite apparent that this humiliation was ordered from higher authorities and after that Muhammed Ali Durrani and Mush were telling the media that such humiliation won’t take place in future..

after that the stance of those inside the mosque also got rigid and now they’re willing to go down fighting instead of being humiliated by forces in front of media

  46. Kashif (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:21 pm

I hope things would turn on govt’s face and they would humiliate just as they humiliated Maulana Aziz.

Btw, great job IMB team. Keep it up.

  47. Hamid (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:30 pm

The MMA goodwill delegation which was trying to diffuse the situation (in fact Syed Bilal clearly said Ghazi will face the law) was *ARRESTED* … Slowly, the intentions of the Govt are becoming clear. They want to cover up other issues. The media has picked up on this issue too and are openly saying this is the case.

To all the stooges who are supporting the govt in this operation, please open your eyes and don’t support this “khoon kharaba”.

  48. khan (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:42 pm

@Doctor, if you remember the first news that broke about Abdulaziz arrest was that he and his wife both were arrested. This news was flashed on all the tv channels. There are only two possibilities , first either the rangers who arrested Abdulaziz and “his wife” did not know “his wife”, so they thought another arrested women as “his wife” , second possiblity is that the news were broken before confirming who was arrested. It seems that the “high government official” asked Abdulaziz to come with his wife. And as Abdulaziz was arrested they thought both he and his wife were arrested and broke the news to all channels. In reality perhaps Abdulaziz decided to bring his daughter instead of his wife.
Everybody can decide which possibility is more logical.

  49. mo0hamed ali (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:46 pm

hamid read my post again and stop acting like a blind fakir would u like your son or daughter to be fanatic? i never said kill em
i said take them out of circulation and i also mentioned prevent blood shed.
there is rule of law in every land on this planet
except pakistan, wake up and stop acting like the ignorant ppl in the masjid, if u want to side with the fundos why r u using a computer? is that not haram according to them? why do u ride a car? ride a donkey instead.

according to me if a man dresses like a woman he is called a trasversite, and that is what that mulla is. the dumb guy could have at least shaved his beard and used some lipstick to look a little better, get rid of the jrek put him in jail and throw the key away, or better still let him join the hijras on teen talwar on thursdays in karachi he will find himslef in good company there.

  51. Khan (unregistered) July 7th, 2007 3:57 pm

@mo0hamed ali , your logic seems very poor, just think why there is a rule of law in the country (sweden) where you live , not because they killed (took them out of circulation) all the fanatics. But because they have democracy and their forces never kill their own people. Tell me if it is possible to kill even a Taliban fanatic who is a citizen of America or Europe.

    Gentlemen

This has been going on for 6 months. Why is the timing of this operation so peculiar?? APC starting in London but media will now continue to cover this live stage drama.

Get real if you guys think anyone has the best interests of these innocent students at heart.

This sore has been allowed to fester for decades right under the nose of the goverment!!!!!

what i really seek is that, its not the red brigade defering this whole.its all up to the government,if they want to vanish them from the scene they can do it in a couple of hours without any bloodshed.the woemn and girls lives issues seems to me a pretext of postponement.we have an example of Bugti, has it given much time and hype.goverment is not paying militay forces just to open fire on them or anyone confronting, they have their paid think tanks or policy/strategy/decision makers who are capale enough to windup this situation as soon as possible.but the orders arent yet given to them by the supreme authority who is on the trip to balochistan with all the fears and doubts.

@khan so what do u suggest? lets hear your logic?
when ppl like fundos want to whip beat or kill innocnet ppl for trying to enjoy a few freedoms life offers, what are you going to do?
there are laws that must be followed, you cannot have two laws in the same country can you?
one law for progressive ppl and one law for the fundo? u know as well as everybody else they r traing young lads to go kill themsleves for some silly cause, with false promises to reach paradise. they have to be stopped and stopped now. if they do not give up peacefully then force should be used. maybe musharaf is using delay tactics to make the usa panic and send more money to line the pockets of some already very rich and powerful ppl.

    I am working on a time difference, so first I need to catch up;

    Dear Hamid,

How sweat of you to call me senseless, however, where did in my post did I said, Kill them all?. I implied that people like Aziz, Rasheed and Fazlullah of Swat are like leeches sucking our blood and you know how you remove leeches? Yes, carefully with a forcep one at a time. Now you got it. And ofcourse, after removing them you cannot treat them like royalty, why? because they are criminals. Yes! you have got, I must say you are catching up fast. Let me elaborate further, remember when the Allied forces were approaching Kabul and the poor Madrassa students were sent on a Jihad by the truck loads by these same leeches. Remember, when the panjsheri’s approached the capital, how these Madressah students were abandoned in the ditches by their Taliban Commanders. There is no count of how many of these poor students were slaughtered and herded like animals. Yes, you remembered now. I must say you are doing good!

Now how to tackle the issue of people believing in different ideologies or having different belief systems. Simple, its perfectly natural, thats what makes us human. I dont have a problem with a Burqa or a Bikini but, I do have a problem with the words like Enforcement and Nifaaz. Great! you got this too.

Now to the issue of how the government is handling this crisis. Contrary, to my beliefs about a dictatorial rule, the govt has handled this with extreme patience, otherwise a crazy commander would have bombed his way in by now and killed innocents by the dozens, remembered Panam hijacking or the raid on Khana-e-Kaabaa. Oh! you remembered that too! good keep it up.

Now to the broader issue, what is happening is not a recent phenomenon, but over the past 40 years the state of Pakistan has failed its poor and the weak in providing them the basic necessities including education. The void thus created, is being filled by people like these brothers. Mush cannot be blamed for all this, but he has to come up with a clear plan for the future. I dont trust the current crop of politicians to provide that. Hmmmm….. I see that you dont agree, well we can’t agree on everything but I see that you are a perfectly logical man and there is nothing “senseless” about you.

    In the end though the escape of Abdul Aziz is stale news by now, however, I would like to share with everyone the actual dialogue that took place between the female students accompanying Aziz and the lady police constables, here it goes;

    The girls said;
Burqay mein rahney dou burqa naa uthao
Burqa jo uth gayaa tou bhade khul jaaey gaa

    And the constables replied;
Allah meri tauba, Allah meri tauba

    Take care and be safe.

I think the military, should take a tank and drive through all the way taking down the walls so they have no where to hide.

“There is crossfire, and one cannot identify who got shot by who.”

I would agree with that statement. It is highly unlikely to give statistics about how many casualties happen due to friendlies or enemy fire in the midst of heavy exchange. In an ever changing situation as extreme as the Lal Masjid standoff, thee surrounding forces are doing their best to keep the casualties on the outside down by restricting civilian presence in the hot zones and telling residents of nearby houses not to venture near their windows or on their houses’ roof.

The folks on this page who blame the government and who call this a drama, are weaklings fleeing the truth and taking refuge in conspiracies and fiction.

After six months of lawlessness, firing on security personnel and all the deaths, you consider the govt the guilty party? The fanatic Ghazi wants to be given “safe passage” to go to his village and for everyone to forget what happened. I can assure you that will not happen in Pakistan or any other place in the world, except maybe Talibanistan.
