GEO Not Anymore!
The GEO network is getting closed. Amidst financial and political pressures, currently ts been notified that Geo Netwok (including all channels) is getting closed. Pakistanis were not able to watch it since Emergency.
So no more Hamid Mirs, Shahid Masoods, Iftikhars Ahmads!!!!
No matter how over the top they used to go; still, Geo was first preference to switch to when news were needed.
Fear not for news only; the whole network’s closing down means LAYING OFF of thousands of employees and thats not a small thing. Think!!

Things are not getting any better.
The Government of Pakistan is taking some really harsh measures these days. Though it is painful to see that peopel are suffering and thsi media blackout is keeping everyone in the dark — but if it brings some fruitful results in the interest of our Pakistan then all is well if it ends well.
A suggestive comment would be to keep showing all of those Entertainment Shows but if it is really necessary then block the News and Information hours for a while since women and kids are suffering for nothing.

Only geo news is going off air rather ENTIRE network as they had been whining for long time.
I am happy channels are coming back because I am thinking about thousands of employees who have to feed their kids. Imagine if our parent as part of any such TV network?
the thing which I hate that GEO was trying to be Godfather and was whining that they didn’ compromise unlike AAJ etc. Gharoor ka Sir Neecha, Unliek AAJ, GEO had to shutdown entire channel.
This is probably one of the worst days in Pakistan’s history.

This is something which I really abhore about Jang network. They used to di similar thing with help of Awam and now GEO. They don’t confirm things and start whining. I saw how a lady was crying on phone. Geo MUST getrid of this crap as many of us know that Jang has always been part of ruling govt. This is how Khalilur Rahmad ran his empire.
First time in the history of Pakistan u can now even see Male police personnel manhandling WOMEN in pakistan. Unbelievable!!!!! Even dictators like ZIA, Yahya and ayub khan didn’t do this.

Suspension of GEO only shows the weakness of the present regime to face the facts. Unable to defend their illegal and illegitimate actions they are forced to continue their onslaught on our (your and my) rights.
It is our right to know and make our own informed decisions. Any sane, decent, and intelligent person can guess why they shutdown the news. To say that I was being brainwashed by watching the news and hearing the government’s ministers lie through their teeth is complete nonsense.
The interesting thing that Musharraf and his desperate cabal of equally misguided megalomaniacs are forgetting that times have changed. That nation has moved on, and ground realities can become very brutal overtime.
Time will tell as this nation continues to fight for and honor the independence of judiciary and freedom of press. And all these Mir Jaafirs and Mir Saadiqs will have no place to hide pretty soon, insha Allah.
