Footie Trials in Jinnah Stadium

So, if everyone is reporting on whats going on, I’ll add my bit.

People who are interested in football or call it soccer should head to Jinnah Stadium at 7:30 am in the morning for a trial session being held by over the next two days. That makes 23rd and 24th, as televised on TV. This is for Islamabad region as they try to setup a league for GEO Super. The session will last till Magrib, as I learned from a source. I will try to make it there, and if you spot a Red and Black Kaka shirt, that will be me. Please don’t come out to kill me, but we’ll try to kick some balls.

Good game. And no, Kaka won’t be there!

Inzi Bhai’s Last Appearance

Inzi bhai returns
Last ODI of Inzi Bhai Kingston, March 21, 2007

The man famous for his coolness (apart from AALOO scandal ;-)) couldn’t help it out in his last appearance in ODI match and his last world cup appearance too. The return back to pavilion of Inzamam ul haque was a standing ovation by spectators, loud applause, Zimbabweans came pat his back and hand-shakes were witnessed, then the team came down to greet him and that was when the tears come rolling down.

We still love you and we still cherish the way you entertained Cricketing fans over years and years of time. I still remember the Inzi who smacked NZealanders and English team in 1992 with his brave shots.

Pakistanis Hail Inzi Bhai….!

Hail Inzi

iInzi Bhai's last ODI appearance Today We waited for Inzi’s resignation from captaincy and the Retirement from Cricket … it’s at last here — it happened suddenly and tragicly But HEY whatever come stoday – Shouldn’t we be all up as a nation to hail the last ODI of our very own INZI BHAI :-)

He’s no doubt a cricketng GIANT — he gave us amazing shots and innings for past 15+ yeas — we Wish you luck and best wishes ahead (though, I’m sorry you dont have much of luck in Modelling).

we’ll still love you — wins and defeats are part of game and now THAT YOUR MUSTAKBIL IS IN SAFE HANDS (as an insurance advertisement says ;-)) we wish it real;ly would be.

Go Pakistan Go … we’ll wait for you this week back with us too ;-)

Rock Climbing At Shadhara

24-02-07_1448.jpgA few of us friends went to climb a small wall in Shadra. The breeze was fabulous and the rock was perfect. The wall is one of the most popular ones. However, when you go climbing in the Margallas you need to be very careful about the texture of the rocks. Over all rocks are quite weak here and might break off. In case you are scouting a new wall just be sure you don’t do it alone, or if you do have ample support through rope. For those reckless adventurers out there who don’t care, heck go out and have fun.

Excellent way to stretch yourself up on a windy Sunday afternoon.

Long Hike Back Home

18-02-07_1204.jpgThis weekend I had a chance to hike all the way back to Pir Sohwa from Gohra Gali. What started as an over cast day turned out to be wet stretch in the last leg. However, I never realised, what privelage it is to walk in mild rain, among the clouds rising from the valleys below. I compiled an account of the trip for the benefit of those who would want to repeat it. Read on for a more detailed account

Rugby Scene In The Capital

Rugby%20Show.bmpRugby is a fantastic sport. Why I like it more, is because you have to face your opponent head on (well most of the time) especially during scrums. As a matter of fact, software guys like it so much that they have named an enitire development lifecyle process after it, scrum that is. Anyway, getting back to the point, for some crazy people like me who actually enjoy the sport (watching from a safe distance that is), would like to know what’s all about it in Islamabad. Surprisingly, there is pretty much of it, read on to find out.

Cricket World Cup Fever- Go West Indies

West%20Indies%20World%20Cup.gifWest Indies have reportedly agreed to open a temporary visa centre in Islamabad to facilitate Pakistani cricket spectators, wanting to go to the Caribbean to witness the cricket World Cup. The intimation about opening up of the visa centre was delivered to the PCB.

Pakistani cricket spectators, who managed to get the tickets of the World Cup, complained of hardships in getting the West Indies visa as there is no Caribbean high commission and embassy in Pakistan.

1st. Women Rock Climbing Competition

Woman%20Rock%20Climbing.jpgThe Advenure Club Of Pakistan are organizing a competition for the first time in Pakistan for amateur female rock climbers. This is not really a competition per say but mainly an introductory or promotional program to introduce and advertise the game. The year 2007 has been declared as Visit Pakistan Year and these guys in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism, Government of Pakistan are organizing the competition per the given dates.

The program includes, a three days clinic / qualifying round, followed by a three day’s competition. For this program, all the contestants will be provided free free boarding / lodging in Islamabad.

Madam Minister Tourism, Ms. Nilofar Bakhtia will be the guest of honour on inaugural ceremony while and any other VVIP personality will distribute certificates / awards.

For partcipation, please contact at the earliest. Details are given below. The religous fanatics can ignore because A) You can’t climb in a bath robe B) It’s just another cultural value imported from the West.

Cricket and Us

Pakistanis are one heck of a bunch who can be easily titled as Cricket Crazies … even suicide attackers choose days when Match is off (OK a bad joke – I know I Know) …!

Well in evening I went off for some shopping to the famous Baara markets flourishing in Islamabad’s shopping areas … and interestingly half of Khan saabs were saying today because of match – business is almost NIL and half of them were so engrossed in matches that they were not even interested in showing clothes to us … so we bid farewell to markets coming back for Afridid’s quick Sixers :-)

No matter what happens … we are ONE STRONG NATION with EMOTIONAL Ups and Downs when it comes to CRICKET … WE ARE PRAYING BOYZ ….!

Score update at the moment : 183/7 …!
