HEC to award scholarships under Talent Farming Scheme

Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Saturday invited applications to award scholarships at B.Sc/B.Sc.(Hons) and M.Sc. levels for public sector universities under the Talent Farming Scheme for the Session of 2005-2006.

The students, studying in B.Sc/B.Sc (Hons) part-I must have obtained 60% marks (with 60% marks in science subjects) at F.Sc. level would be eligible for the scholarships.

Whereas M.Sc. students (part-I) must have secured 60% aggregate in science subjects at B.Sc. level.

Eligibility does not guarantee scholarships as such scholarships will be awarded to students with the highest merit.

The HEC will pay a stipend of Rs. 1000 per month for B.Sc./B.Sc. (Hons) and Rs. 1500 per month for M.Sc. level students plus book allowance of Rs. 1000 per year for B.Sc/B.Sc (Hons) and Rs.1500 per year for M.Sc. students.

The candidates have been asked to take an aptitude test to be conducted by HEC simultaneously at Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Quetta, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Faisalabad and Karachi.

The test centers could also be established at Attock, Mardan, Mansehara and Gilgit subject to availability of suitable number of candidates and a suitable place to conduct the test. Test score of each candidate would count 40% weightage with 60% weightage of previous academic record to qualify for the scholarship.

The HEC has advised the candidates to download the prescribed application forms from the HEC website www.hec.gov.pk or to obtain from the HEC Headquarters or HEC Regional Centres at Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar.
