PAC Kamra to produce Boeing parts

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will be the chief guest at the launching ceremony of Boeing Parts Production at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra today (Monday).

As an offshoot of the purchase contract of eight Boeing 777 aircraft by PIA, an agreement was negotiated with Boeing Company for production of some Boeing parts at PAC Kamra and PIA Precision Engineering Complex, Karachi. Prior to this agreement Boeing Company carried out a meticulous surve of the PAC facilities. After evaluation of all the necessary infrastructure expertise and internationally recognized Quality System Boeing offered transfer of technology to (TOT) Boeing Quality Management System (BQMS) Certification training and technical support to Pakistan aeronautical complex.

The total agreed value of this offset is US $ 95 millions. PAC successfully fulfilled the Boeing prerequisites for the award of the contract. In that, all four factories of PAC qualified an attained Aerospace Specific Quality Certification. As 9100 B, which is one the highest Quality Management Certification. Moreover, PAC also amicably commissioned the Hi-Tech CNC machines received for Boeing and continued to upgrade her manufacturing special processes i.e Heat and Surface Treatment and Non Destructive testing facilities. As of now, PAC has received orders for fabrication of 502 Boeing parts, which are to be delivered at varying time intervals by November 2006, Unde the provisions of contract, Boeing is to place purchase orders to PAC till August 2010, which is further extendable for another two years. Boeing offset project by PAC is a modest beginning and is a leap forward towards being financially self-sustained so as to reduce the burden of funding of PAC from national exchequer.
