More Update: The Kohsar police on Monday arrested Mohammad Zahid, cook of late Ghulam Abbas, a retired wing commander of Pakistan Air Force, on a charge of mixing poison in the food that was consumed by Abbas and his wife Sughra.

The accused was arrested from his native town, Gujar Khan, while he was fleeing to the tribal areas after the chemical report was received, police sources said. The accused has been shifted to an undisclosed place.

Dr Wassem Khawaja, medico-legal officer at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, said that poison was mixed in Dall Mash that the deceased couple had consumed and according to the chemical report poison was found in the stomachs of the deceased. The senior superintendent of police said that the family members and close relatives of Abas might be involved in the double murder. Talking to Daily Times, he said that the police would interrogate all the family members who are residing in the house of late Abbas and close relatives who had access to the kitchen.

So it WAS actual poison after all. The cook does not just get up one day and mix poison in your food. It surely goes deeper. Maybe he was an agent. Whats the PAF officer’s history? Was he working on a classified project? Maybe the cook wasn’t paid his wages and decided to take revenge. Who knows. Future updates would be appreciated.

@ssaeed: There is a police investigation underway and till now reports suggest that the cook who has been arrested under suspicion had left some time back after a dispute with his employers and then returned. What the actual causes were of ths unfortunate incident remain to be seen?
