Coup Rumors sparked with Power Outage

By the sunday evening, power outage led to numerous rumors in Islamabad and the country … suggesting the yet-again army coup in country …. even some led to the belief that Musharraf’s no more ….!

Faithfuls who arrived for Taraweeh also discussed coup rumors :)

Though Musharraf said while talking to newsmen:

“Pakistan is not a banana republic and rumours about overthrowing of Pakistan government is a nonsense, total nonsense,”

Have some more readouts on these interesting rumors here:

Power Outage Galore

The daddy of all power outages has hit Pakistan today, including the areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. WAPDA sources informed that the breakdown was occurred due to malfunctioning in 500 KW transmission line from Tarbela dam. Among the cities affected were the capital Islamabad, Lahore, Jehlum, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Mansehra, Shangla, Butgram and Muzaffarabad.

After nearly 5 hours, electrical supply has been restored to some (read posh) areas of Islamabad by alternate means while most of Rawalpindi and the rural areas surrounding the cities remain in darkness. Although WAPDA has given no clear time frame for restoration of electricity to the rest of the city, news sources are quoting some estimates of 3 to 4 hours although it is possible that it could take longer.

Huge Warcraft 3 Meet

Today, 23rd September, there is a huge Warcraft 3 normal (no DOTA) meet-up at Tornado Gaming Cafe in Ayub Market, F-8 Markaz (at 4:00 pm). Anyone and everyone interested to get some gaming action with the country’s best and elite players is welcome to join in the party. Players from as far as Lahore and Muzzaffarabad are comming to attend and play. There is no entry fee, no seeding and no pre-arranged matches. Its a free-for-all. I myself would be there, and alot of my other colleagues from college and Islamabad. Renowned online gamers would get their game on and play in a lag less environment for the first time against each other! Some of these player have actually represented Pakistan at the World Cyber Games. Some of them even aiming for higher grounds. A subcluture in its own right: Warcraft 3, still alive and kicking! Good luck, have fun ;)
