Return of the Boar

It's no more ...!

Piking it up ...!

It was a mistake to imagine that the marked increase in vehicular traffic on Islamabad’s roads would drive away the wild life away to the Margallas. Clearly unaware of the danger of crossing roads amidst fast moving traffic, the wild boars are here to get killed. Especially during nights, they’d appear suddenly from the woods to the main highway, resulting either in accidents between fast moving cars or are run-over by the vehicles. And often the dead boars become a bigger danger for many other vehicles causing even more accidents. But, at least, in this particular incident on Islamabad highway near shakarpariaan, a highly conscientious traffic policeman tries to drag the remains of a dead boar away with the help of an improvised branch of a tree to side of the road.

Traffic management experts say that all over the world, highways or roads passing through woods are fenced with barbed wires to prevent the entry of such wild animals. Such preventive measures have been taken on the motorway but Islamabad still lacks it … as the lahoris or karachiites say that in Islamabad after every 3 houses there’re two jungles … I guess it would be utter difficult to fence the city to prevent such wild life connections. (Aaaah – though Islamabad’s loosing the jungle margins on high pace :( )

I was just kidding DAMN !

On more serious note, Boars do constitute a major part of Islamabad’s wild life … but even they were vanishing due to rush and cutting of trees aka jungle ..!

Hats off to the gentleman police officer.Instead of being cynical we should appreciate that someone is performing his moral duty than mere spectator.A few more like him and we can also boast of being civilised or cultured enough to be considered a humane society.

I think this post should have been rated “Not For Weak Hearted”. Secondly this one is dead, I have come across real live ones with complete families during my solo hikes in the Margallas. Unlike what you would normally expect, these poor guys are scared shit of humans. They run for their lives when they see them (and then end up the way shown in picture). I am glad this one did not blow itself up in an explosion.

On a different note I second Anon, give the police guy a round of applaus. He is doing a great job.
