Hitchhiking Around The Capital

ImageView.jpgThis week a French traveller, Ludovic Hubler who is touring around the world by hitchhiking for 5 years arrived in Islamabad. He has traveled around 80 countries, all the American continent, Antarctica, some African countries, part of Asia and the whole Europe. Now after 54 months and 145,000 Kms traveling, he has arrived Pakistan.

His challenge, which started on January 1st 2003 from France, has consisted of completing a tour of the world using hitchhiking (cars, trucks, sailing-boats, cargos, ice-breaker, donkeys, camels, etc…) as his only means of transportation. Hitchhiking around the world is not only his personal challenge but it’s also in his opinion the best way to interact with the local populations.

In addition, he is involved in several humanitarian missions as well as in a “mentoring” project for French children with cancer (He shares his journey with them by Internet).

More information about the adventure is available on his website , via this TV report.

or via a this PDF file.

For more details, you can also read his interview.:

During his trip, he also gave many lectures at schools, universities, French Alliances, Rotary clubs, etc… The objectives of these was not only to share his journey but also to raise awareness of world issues (Global warming, cross-cultural understanding, world poverty, etc…) and to promote peace around the globe.

He would like to explore the possibilities of sharing his adventure (free of charge) with some schools/universities/organizations in our area. During his journey, he also visited many NGOs (Non Governmental organizations) dealing especially with the street children and education issues but all kinds of NGOs interest him. In the past, he had the opportunity to work in different ways with some NGOs he met in Africa, South America and other parts of Asia. In case you have some contacts of NGOs he could visit, he will be very happy to hear about it.

He often shares his journey, promotes hospitality and peace around word by trying to spread important messages in the media (press, TV, radio). If you have any contact with people working in the media sector, you can help. You can watch more TV reports that were broadcasted in the past by clicking here

If you are interested to arrange such a informative lecture then you can contact him directly for appointment on 0332-5047501 as he has just arrived in Islamabad a couple of days ago.

Update: Here is an account of my complete interview with Ludowic on a later date.
