Keeping the Faith Alive

In the chaotic of the people shopping for Eid celebration, there are still a group of people who never forget to keep their faith by taking a short break from shopping and perform the prayer in this semi-open praying area in the Gol Market of Jinnah Super.

Just because someone is praying in the open does not automatically mean their faith is alive. Just being ritualistic does not mean that one is a good Muslim. A thousand curses on zia-ul-haq, who set us on this horrible path of wearing religion on our sleeves.

Jehan Ara, well you didn’t give the definition of “Good Muslim”- All I know that “By not practicing” a religion can’t make one a good follower/believer otherwise the analogy would be as lame as if someone claims to be a doctor but not like to do practice. And please come out of Zia phobia. This is very immature from your side. Zia was not the prophet of Islam who ordered Muslims to pray. If ZIA was responsible to create awareness in public to pray FORECEFULLY or his order had such impact then you wouldn’t have made such statement today on this forum.Curse where it’s due.

@PineApple: i didn’t know there was a Golmarket in ISB as well. Wat’s so special about “Gol market” of ISB? IN karachi this market sells all kinds of grocery stuff.

This mosque has been made on public park, and to my knowledge is illegal, and had no existance in the master plan . It used to be a make shift place for prayers, now it has become a full blown mosques with all the amneties. There is a Mosque in the Faisal market nearby, I wonder why people don’t use that mosque and have transformed a public seating area into prayer place without formal authorization from city administration. Even if the need for mosque was dire, the shopkeepers should have pooled in and actually bought some place to convert it into a praying area. A temporary area was good enough too. Not really sure if religous grounds are sane enough reason to bulldoze public property permanantly.

So not only they deprived common citizens of relaxing place but they stole a public property too and we know what Islam says about someone who steals.

well well Muhammad Akram, i respect u in age may be u r elder than me…to me, a mosque should be there for those shopkeepers n straight forward people, cos they want to offer prayer…there is no mosque near-by.
n most of the people came ther just 4 fun…n not even a single shopping
