Luna CapreseAt the same time, Daily Times reports that FBI chief targeted in Islamabad blast:

The target of the bombing at an Italian restaurant in Islamabad on Saturday was Trish, the FBI Operations chief in Pakistan. Quoting its sources, ARY TV channel reported on Sunday that Trish was the second highest-ranking US official in Pakistan and had been the terrorists’ actual target. Won’t get fooled again..

With the whole political scenario in the country unfolding in the wake of recent elections and bombings and the return of familiar faces to Islamabad, I can’t stop thinking of this song by The Who:

We’ll be fighting in the streets

With our children at our feet

And the morals that they worship will be gone

And the men who spurred us on

Sit in judgement of all wrong

They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution

Take a bow for the new revolution

Smile and grin at the change all around

Pick up my guitar and play

Just like yesterday

Then I’ll get on my knees and pray

We don’t get fooled again

The change, it had to come

We knew it all along

We were liberated from the fold, that’s all

And the world looks just the same

And history ain’t changed

‘Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution

Take a bow for the new revolution

Smile and grin at the change all around

Pick up my guitar and play

Just like yesterday

Then I’ll get on my knees and pray

We don’t get fooled again

No, no!

I’ll move myself and my family aside

If we happen to be left half alive

I’ll get all my papers and smile at the sky

Though I know that the hypnotized never lie

Do ya?

There’s nothing in the streets

Looks any different to me

And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye

And the parting on the left

Are now parting on the right

And the beards have all grown longer overnight

I’ll tip my hat to the new constitution

Take a bow for the new revolution

Smile and grin at the change all around

Pick up my guitar and play

Just like yesterday

Then I’ll get on my knees and pray

We don’t get fooled again

Don’t get fooled again

No, no!

Lahore Bleeds … Pakistan Bleeds

FIA building in Lahore Islamabad is equally sad at the suicide bombings and turbulent unrest in Lahore today. Lahore is the heart of Pakistan and at its bleeding … I’ve no words to express my sorrow …!

May Allah bless the souls who had to leave the world this way … and the many (150+ today) be brave enough to cope with life from this day onwards.

At the same time when I’m beaten at this … least to mention the usual outcries.

Where’s the war on terror?

Moveable Feast

My mother recently joined Facebook and is slowly but surely becoming a serial Facebooker like the rest of the Internet-using world. The other day, she made me proud by writing her first Note – and it was about Islamabad! It was titled ‘My Hometown’ and read as follows:

If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.
– Ernest Hemingway

Replace Paris with Isloo and the quotation still rings true !!!

A good friend from Lahore promptly commented:

no way!!! isloo is the most boring place i have ever visited….same monotonous roads going up and down with everything closing down exaclty the same time the sun goes down…..:)

To which my true-blue Islooite mom replied:

The way the sun rises and sets in my city is an indescribable spectacle.every single day.Which other city has the majestic Margallahs as a backdrop. There are traffic jams even past midnight!!!!

Just thought I’d document this declaration of love for our city on Islamabad Metblogs. =)

Kaheen duur jab din ….

On friday … on my way back home the sky was of the loveliest color I’ve seen in past feew months. Clouds hovering above, drizzle and sun spreading its bauty across.

Subhan Allah … !
