Meat & Metro
You definitely have read Fatima’s Marine experience a few days earlier. Finally, I ot the chance to visit Metro too … its huge and its interesting.
The bakery is lucratively enticing … but then meat section is no less. Its chilly considering the loadsheddings country-wide … seem like a heaven =)
The Goat and Cow anatomical charts a lot looked amazing … nicely displayed … ideal for Eid ul Adhaa (Azhaa … if you wana read so). So now you can know whats a Bong and whats Puth.
Clean, hygienic and wrapped bakray were a delight to watch =)) see for yourself…!
Happy visiting … prices are reasonable. Quality in good price all under one roof. What more you need. Probably you do … a customer card. Visit Metro.pk for details on getting that.
ps: yeah the camera was not allowed … they didnt objected on mine though. Despite the so-called good security, they didnt check our car.
Seems like a great piece of news. Though still wonder what’s all the fuss about. I happen to know a foreign lady who is at some responsible position in this store. I also happen to know a relation of mine who has visited the store and got a temporary customer card. He was very keen to have a permenant customer card issued to him. He asked for my help since I knew this lady. He sounded so keen that it looked as if the store was giving every thing free. I asked him if this was the case. He said no, you have to pay for every thing. Then the importance of a permenant customer card did not make much sense to me. So, I refused to intervine and told him just follow the store procedure whatever it may be.
Would like to visit this store one of these days just to find out if it caters for the needs of the elite only or has something to offer for the relief of the AWAAM also.
Happy shopping to all of you anyway.
I’ve no idea about permanent or temporary card … probably, IMHO, in few early days they issued temporary cards that let you enter and roam around but you can’t buy anything.
The store’s definitely not giving things free but its a whole-sale :~)
SO the prices are considerably lesser than in main stream market. For instance, a brand of engine oil is available @ Rs. 775 in market they were selling off the same thing here @ Rs. 620 … good enough, no? Keeping in view the large profits the shopkeepers are keeping. Same goes for a few other household stuff too.
Supposedly the stakeholders are business owners in here but in my 2.5 hr long visit, I came across families only and not elite or their likes only :)
All in all a good experience at my end !!
I went to metro about a month ago. Found it a very interesting place. Cheap and pretty convenient (considering you get everything from a flat screen tv to a packet of maggi under one roof).
I don’t know why Metro has been labeled as the shopping center for elites only. The prices there are dramatically low, and most of the crowd there is either from middle class strata or the shopkeepers.
I have heard alot of people complaining about opening of Metro in Isloo, specially since there is a high rise in poverty lately in the country. What they don’t realise is that Metro is completely anti-thesis of that.
All in all, I think its a very good place. Worth visiting atleast once. Good for buying the monthly "sauda". ;)
Asma, I think you did a really good job writing an article about the meat area of the mall. I was ecstatic to see the huge room/deep freezer (w/e). Lol. :)
sounds like the walmart of isloo :)
clean meats with no flies.. i am all for it …. thumbs up
faran rafi Thanks for liking … may be bakery’s gonna be next ;-)
As for the theory that Metro in times of such poverty conditions can be a bad step … its debatable … may be we can start a thread here … suggestions?
And Yup worth visiting .. though lower limit for buying is Rs 2000 … so plan well … coz its gonna be a ride in.
hin33 kind of :) Thumbs up back :)
@ Asma:
Did you try their chocolate chip cookies??
Yuummmmy!! :D
Nay havnt had a chance yet :S
